Mike! Im Brian Ruel. I hired You at Adams Russell Cable. You affectionately had the nick name Poopa. Don't know why. You were such a carefree soul back then. Didn't like loosing you but your calling for Law Enforcement was so much greater. And we had crossed path's many times over the years Getting to see each other as we both progressed thru our lives.
It brings UNBELIEVABLE SADNESS that you are gone. Im just so glad that I got to know you and work with you.
You were one of a kind. And the mold was broken. Can't make another one.

Dear Marcil Family,
I am so saddened to hear about Mike's sudden passing. As I look through a photo album of my high school years, there is a photo of Mike at the prom, and one from Hampton Beach with friends. Although it has been 32 years since I've seen him, I look back on those FHS years with a smile. Mike was always such a friendly, respectful, and kind person to everyone. He was always there with a smile! It is no surprise that he went on to touch many lives.
May you rest peacefully, Mike, knowing that you made a difference to so many. You won't be forgotten.
Chief, In the relative short time we worked together, you made a big impact on me. Without me realizing it at the time you taught me some important lessons.
Dear Lucy, Megan, Amanda and Matthew. We were very sad to hear of Mike's passing. May he rest in peace.
Ruth, Mike & Julianne Swiecicki
Mike, even though we were just one town apart and always knew one another, it was not until just last fall that I would make it a point to run into you on the F.S.U. campus and together we would talk shop! We shared a few stories, talked of Sunday football, and exchanged a few laughs. You were always extending to me to reach out to you if I ever needed anything. It was an honor to get to know you better and so glad for you when you mentioned you were a likely candidate for the chief of police with F.S.U. Well you did it my friend even though it was for a short time but nonetheless........you achieved it. You will be sadly missed by many and may you rest in peace.
Dear Marcil Family, While it has been years since I have seen Mike, I can vividly remember many great memories during our high school years. Mike and I were very close from Soph yr thru our SR year. It saddens me greatly to hear of his passing. I know how much he enjoyed being a part of the FSU community. I shall always remember his great smile and warm ,welcoming personality. Mike and I have known each other for most of our lives --- we went to school together, and worked together. In school, he nicknamed me, and I always called him by his…until I started working with him at Fitchburg State. Every time he saw me on campus, he told me if I ever needed anything to let him know. When he met my son at a new student reception, he winked at me and said “I'll keep my eye on him for you, Sandy”. Two years later, when my daughter became a Fitchburg State student, I always knew she'd be safe under Mike's watch. It's hard to imagine life on campus without Mike---I already find myself looking for his cruiser. He was one of the nicest guys I have ever known – so proud of his children and so in love with Lucy. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Marcil family and his family at Fitchburg State.
Lucy, I know words cannot relieve the pain that you and your family are feeling right now, but know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers and Mike's memories that he left behind will always be in our hearts!
Chief Marcil rest in peace,
Chief Bob DeMoura
Lucy, You are all in my prayers during this most difficult time. I love you all.
Dear Lucia and Family,
I was so sorry to hear of this great loss. Michael will always be that wonderful gentle man who loved Lucia with his whole being and thought he was so lucky to have her Love returned. He was so caring of others and so protective that being a Police Officer was the perfect calling for him. Be sure that his Love for you and the children lives on.
He meant to so much to so many. He was the one who encouraged me to attend the police academy in 1989. He was such a tremendously nice, kind person! He grew up with my husband, Jim. He will be missed by many, but none will miss him more than his family and children who were blessed to have him in their lives and he will continue to stand guard over you from above!
Dear Marcil Family,
My deep condolences to your family for such a sad, sad loss. May you all find strength in one another, in your extended family and friends. Mike's optimism and hope certainly are with us and we're grateful for his service and dedication to our wonderful Fitchburg State community.

The thin blue line has gotten a bit thinner... but the legacy you left in all that you taught us will live on. We love you and miss you LT !!
I knew Mike from my days at FSU... He was a genuine nice guy. He always went out of his way to help others.
In September 2007, you saw me on the quad at the University and went out of your way to show your sympathy in the passing of my niece. I was so touched by that gesture, that it has stayed with me for seven years. I will never forget what a sweet and thoughtful man you were and you will be in my thoughts for as long as I live.
Thank you Michael...FSU and the world has lost a unique man.
Love and deepest sympathy to the Marcil Family,
As a college student and working for campus police I got a chance to spend time with Mike. He was like a big brother and the advice he gave me kept me out of trouble many times. It's been twenty years and I still remember his smile. He made a difference in my life and many others. I'm sorry.
