It has been some 46 years since I graduated from Fitchburg High but one of my fondest memories were of Mr. Cook's woodworking class and the days we spent on our class trip in Washington DC. I will always cherish the memory of those days that Mr. Cook spent with me molding me into the man I am today and will always be thankful to him.

My prayers and thoughts are with the Cook family. This man was a great person and I am very happy to have known him during my school years at Fitchburg High School. Class of 1966.

We are all saddened by the passing of "Grandpa Cookie" - as he was affectionately known to our four daughters. They never failed to remember one of the girls' birthdays over the years, and we were blessed to know the family. Beyond being a family man though, we will remember Russ as a true patriot, a man of solid convictions and a handshake like a vise! We are thankful for the gift of his presence in our lives, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Cook and Michaud families - as well as Kate, at this time.

The Fitchburg High Class of 1966 is deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved class advisor and teacher. We cannot express deeper sympathy to his wife Florence and his family than to tell them how much he meant to us individually and as an entire class. Mr. Cook came to every reunion, wrote notes to us, called us and always encouraged us to do our best and to be kind. He impacted the whole class with his outstanding character and professionalism for over 51 years. We will never forget him. We will miss him forever. We are so, so sorry Florence.
