To the family of sweet Rita,
My sincere and deepest condolences to all of you but especially to the "nephews and nieces" who so lovingly cared for Rita over the years. We would talk 3 or 4 times a years but lost touch over the last 6 months as I was caring for my own sister who recently lost her battle to lung cancer. Rita had been my "cheerleader" both at the "burg" from 1981-1985 and when we would speak 3-4 times a year. I cherish all her birthday cards and holiday letters. We would discuss changes in our lives and in nursing and we would laugh. Always finding the bright side of a situation. Oh how she loved her family!! I am a better nurse, woman and friend because of her and I know in my heart that she will continue to be my cheerleader in Heaven. Rest in peace sweet Rita,
Lovingly remembered always, Terri (Hanberry) Ennis, marshfield ma

To the family of Dr. Rita Driscoll,
My thoughts and prayers go out to you. She was surely the most remarkable women I have ever known. I was sad to hear at the Fitchburg State University Nursing Department 50th Anniversary of her recent death. I am the Nurse I am today because of her mentorship. We exchanged cards each Christmas and she always wrote such sincere letters. I entered graduate school due to her encouragement and guidance. She gave me a book upon my graduation "Nursing the Finest Art", I have that in my office and when people comment I use that opportunity to tell them all about Dr. Rita Driscoll-my mentor.
Respectfully, Sara Lambe Barnum (87)

My sympathy and healing prayers to Rita's family in their loss. Rita was a beloved faculty member at Fitchburg State College, Department of Nursing, to which she brought expertise and a love for life and nursing. I first met Rita in 1985 when I joined the faculty and shared an office with her. I would not have survived my first year of teaching without Rita's mentoring, caring, and friendship which grew over these many years even after her retirement and mine. We shared many stories about life and nursing over many cups of tea. I will miss her very much, but am blessed by having known her and by her love.
