He was born June 1, 1933, in Flint, the son of Daniel Jay and Lucille (Fleury) Brandt. Don graduated from Flint Northern, Flint Junior College, and Michigan State University before earning his Master's Degree from the University of Michigan. Don had
a successful teaching career. He taught sixth grade at Cook Elementary School in Flint

sister, Freda (Brandt) Smith of Galesburg; his second family, the Pembertons: Steve and
Julie, Dorothy Palmateer, and extended families of all the Pembertons; his cousins: Jeanette Steinbach, Leonard Brandt, Alma Haase, James Jaynes, Gene Fleury, Ardath Dawes, and their extended families; good neighbors, Bud and Donna Ballard, Gary and Beverly Brouwer, Pete and Sally Moss, and Judy Herban. Don was preceded in death by his father in 1973 and by his 103-year-old mother in 2002. Thank you to all the above-mentioned people, the staff at rehab, the staff on the second and third floors at Munson Medical Center, Dr. Kiddle, Dr. Prust, and Dr. Ryckman. Don's love was his gardens, two fish-filled ponds, two waterfalls, and decks. His yards were so beautiful that they were on the Garden Tour one summer. He was also a very good cook and
baker. Cremation has taken place. Interment will take place in Gilmore Township Cemetery where Don will be layed to rest with his father, mother, grandparents, aunt, and uncle. The Bennett-Barz Funeral Home, in Beulah, is in charge of arrangements.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Brandt , the Best 6th grade teacher ever! (Cook School 1966) My brothers were members of the Patrol Boys and Mr Brandt made sure they were a tight group. Many great memories.
