Dear Halstead Family, I worked with Doug for a few years on one of his side-jobs while he was a new Firefighter for the City of Flint. In later years, when he was a Fire Executive, we only saw each other a few times.
Regardless, I always enjoyed his passion for the fire service, sense of humor & thoughtfulness. I considered him a friend in the best sense of the word. He will be missed by all.

No one was more dedicated to the fire service than Doug. How else to explain his life in the Flint Fire Department where I first knew him, and his retirement to the Burton Fire Department, where he served the rest of his life? Friendly, helpful, willing and able, a good friend and dedicated servant of the public. My sincere condolences to all who loved him.
