My heart goes out to your family in your time of sorrow. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness I feel about Florence Fugenschuh. I knew "Flo" for most of my life. She was a wonderful Mother, Mother-n-law, and Grand Mother. She was thoughtful in everything she did with her life. She made a great impression in my life. My children were very fortunate to have such a lovely, wonderful Grand Mother. They have nothing but great memories of spending summers with their Grandparents in Flint, Michigan and their Grand Parents visiting Michael and Betsy every year. Flo and Bill would come to the kids sport events and I can still hear Flo yelling “Go Michael” - “Go Betsy”, in that cute high pitch voice of hers. I have several memories of Flo, so many to mention. I do still use some of her favorite recipes; Rice and Chicken, Scallop Potatoes, and her famous Holiday Strawberry Dessert that we make with AE Cottage Cheese, still being served at every Holiday dinner. She introduced me to Triscuits when I was only 15 years old and every time I bite into one I think of her. But the memory that tops them all is Flo and I sneaking into the Colorado University vs. Michigan game. She did not even know that we snuck into the game until we started to walk up into the student section. We sat with the students and she had a grand time telling those students how superior Michigan “Go Blue” was how Michigan was going to win the game. She talked about the players not only Michigan's but CU's. They were all so impressed with her knowledge of Football and they respected her being a die-hard Michigan fan. She told them that Michigan was going to win because they were a much superior team. The last 15 seconds, last play of the game, CU threw a “Hail Mary” to win the game. She just couldn't believe it, but was a great fan and the students loved her regardless of the loss. Several of the students, both women and men helped her down from the top row of the stands and walked us to our car, and Flo talked to them the entire way. It was truly a memory to cherish. I will miss her but her memories put a smile on my face. Love to you and your family.
