Yogi Berra is credited with saying “when you come to a fork in the road, take it.” I was so very fortunate to have benefited from Mr. Badar's guidance when I came to one of the most important forks of my youth. He was my teacher, coach and mentor and I have never forgotten the profound influence he had on my life. In preparing to return to Flint for our 50th high school reunion, I was going to attempt to make contact with him, pay my respects and thank him in person but was saddened to learn of his passing. My sincerest condolences to Mr. Badar's family; my congratulations to him for ‘a race well run' and; I rejoice for his soul that now resides with our Lord and Father.

My condolences to Bobby and the rest of the Badar family. You were a big part of my life through high school and beyond. He touched the lives of so many and he will truly be missed.

Norb was tougher than cancer. A great athlete, an even greater coach if that is possible. And a man of great principle who was steadfast in what he believed in. His T&F teams won state championships. And he was a tremendous collegiate hurdler. A finer human being could not be found. We will all be poorer in his absence.

I have great memories of Mr. Badar as a teacher and coach. His students always enjoyed talking with him after class. Mr. Badar was always ready to listen.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of one of the truly great figures in area track and field. Although I was not a member of any of Norb's great teams, I did have the opportunity to train with his team for a couple of winters. I will remember Norb as a sincere, dedicated, caring coach who was always willing to help in any way he could. From expert advice to allowing a non-team member to train inside the school in winter, when no other facilities were available. He will be greatly missed.

To the Badar Family. I offer prayers and condolences. My brother Donald Hart spoke for all of us, “Flint Northern VIKINGS 4 LIFE”...! I loved him dearly!!! Two of his many sayings was "Jiminy Christmas" and "Talk is cheap in a bar" we proved ourselves....He was a real Man! And he taught us how to be real men. He was a father figure. He taught me the proper way of running, and how to blast out of the starting blocks. I ran the 120 High Hurdles, 180 Low Hurdles, 440 Relay 3rd leg and the 880 Relay 3rd leg. When I think of the history we all had, it's like yesterday. He will be missed, and will always live in our hearts. He coached us all well… GO VIKINGS....!!! GO BIG RED...!!!. (Class of 1973-1976) Charles Hart. Norbert Badar is in Heaven Coaching the Track Team.
