I purchased a watercolor from Dee at an Art Fair at MSU in I think it was 1972-73. A vase of daisies in front of a window looking out on a tree losing it's leaves in the fall. Very beautiful, simple, restful.I just recently learned of her passing. She still touches us with the legacy of her Art.

The painting at left top is my Opaque Watercolor I did at U of M, with Dee's Still Life I in mind.... U of M purchased it from the Student Show and it hung in the Ad Bldg for many years. I then bought it back before moving out of Flint to Ann Arbor. Now it is proudly displayed next to Dee's in my apartment:-) Love you Both forever !!!!!!!

I was too nervous to speak at Dee's wonderful memorial service, but if I had I would have told the story of how Dee named the mockingbird that perched on her roof "Dorothy" after her mother. When we'd go out for our walks we would look for Dorothy, and if we spotted her we would say "Hi, Dorothy". How synchronistic that would have been since the pastor followed the wonderful eulogies with the story of Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, clicking her heels and saying "there's no place like home.."

So sorry to hear about Dee. We were next door neighbors on Lavender Street. Before my mom passed away she bought one of Dee's paintings and gave it to me. It hangs in our living room and will now bring an even more meaningful reminder of those "good ole days" watching Dee sketch and draw out in her yard.
