She is a spirit that will be missed
I was a student of Kathleen's at Transylvania and loved her course and adored her then. Subsequently, I also went to Medical School and remained in touch with Kathleen. I cherished every moment I was ever able to share with Kathleen, on the phone or in person. Her passing leaves a big hole in my heart. I shall miss her.
My heart is breaking right now just cant beleive your gone. You was a great doctor and special friend to me since 1984. Rest in peace.
Kathleen was a very special person when we shared an apartment many years ago with another good friend. She had a great sense of humor was caring and intelligent. She will be missed by many friends.
Kathleen was so pure of heart..........a
I met Aunt Kathleen when I entered this family over 22 years ago! She made me feel like I had been in the family since I was born! She was a very wonderful women and someone who I and the family will miss. Her great nephews told me that they know there grandma, Angela, her sister was standing at the gates waiting for her and that even though life will not quite be the same with her gone from here, that heaven will be a brighter and bigger place with her and grandma reunited and Uncle Paul standing there as well.
Dr Riggs was a wonderful professor and person.
Dr. Riggs was more than a professor, I always felt like she was also a friend. She impacted many young lives.
I graduated from Transylvania in 1971; Kathleen was a phenomenal educator and an inspiration to all her students. She will stay in our hearts forever. What a beautiful person; she will be missed. Sheron Barnett Marshall
P.S. Heaven will be even better with you there, Kathleen.
Dr. Riggs was one of the best teachers I had at Transylvania. She made Biology so interesting and fun...something I thought would never happen. Then, after graduating from UK Medical School, and choosing Psychiatry as her specialty, she joined Dr. Cornelia B Wilbur's practice (where I was working at the time), so she came back into my life. I am saddened by her loss but oh so grateful for what I learned from her not only in Biology, but life lessons as well. Love you, Dr. Riggs!! Heaven is so lucky to have you!
Such an exceptional person. Not only was she my Biology teacher, but a very special friend in later years. It was an honor to know her.
Miss Riggs was one of our favorite teachers for the class of Versailles High School Class of 1962. She has always been special to us.
The world was indeed a better place because of you, Dr. Riggs. Thank you for everything.
this precious friend sang at my wedding p.jones
I'm a former student of Dr. Riggs. She was young when she taught at WCHS, but she was a good teacher and made biology very interesting. My sympathy to her family.
Kathleen brought "SUNSHINE" to my life! A cherished friend to me and my sister-Pat--LOVE, JOY, PEACE--be to YOU and your family! Thank-You for being in my life! S.H.
My deepest sympathies to all Kathleen's family in your loss. Kathleen and Dr. Lila Boyarksy were very inspirational to me as a student at Transy and in my career as a biologist. I am thankful for them both. I will never forget Kathleen's quick wit, caring and sense of humor in the classroom and in life. She will be greatly missed, but very sweetly remembered -- she knew how to live!
Joy, my deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family. I'm so sorry that I didn't know of Kathleen's passing. Glad that I had a chance to spend some time with her not all that long ago. She was such a dear friend since our Transy days, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Heaven is a better place with her presence. May God bless!
Dr. Riggs was a special person to the students she interacted with at Transylvania. That special bond continued with us throughout her life. Her smile, laughter and zest for life will remain a guidepost for me forever. She will be missed greatly but her memory will sustain us all.God is most fortunate to have her in His garden in Heaven. God speed Kathleen. We love you!
May loving memories of Rosa Riggs be a solace to the family. We can only offer words of comfort and encouragement. Only God, through time and your faith, can bring the healing.

I never thought of Kathleen without a smile breaking out on my face. A very special woman. Blessings to her family in their loss.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
Dear Joy, Sarah, and Family, I am so surprised and saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Riggs. She was a gem (perhaps not the word you would expect to see here). A good friend of mine once commented to me that she thought one of the reasons I went to see her was that we laughed for almost the entire hour. That was a bit of an exaggeration but there is much truth in that comment. She was an extremely compassionate and discerning person and I appreciated her insights so very much. Never once did I feel like I was being judged and that was so important to the effectiveness of her counsel. The fact that she was able to live an active life in spite of her paralysis is a wonderful testimony to her determination and strong will. She has and will always have special place in my heart. May you all find strength and comfort in the tremendous outpouring and testimonials from her friends and former patients. For the most part these two groups are one and the same. In Christian Love and Sympathy, Bonnie Gray
