Dear Puzey Family,

My heart goes out to you. My sincerest condolences. I volunteered in Benin in '95-'97 and was the same age as Kate at that time. It was an amazing life changing experience. Reading Kate's blog confirmed to me that she gave her all during her service in Benin. She clearly respected the Beninese community, and allowed herself to be fully immersed in its culture. Her time in this country was not in vain, she has left a positive mark. She was certainly courageous and committed to the Beninese girls in the community. No doubt, the community will always remember and celebrate Kate.
God bless. She is now in peace. Thank you for raising such a beautiful spirit, Kate, that has made a positive difference in this world.

Puzey Family,
I did not know Kate, nor had I heard her story until this morning on a repeat of 20/20. To say it saddened me is an understatement. Your daughter was truly a unique person and you should be extremely proud of her and the work she was doing. Unfortunately, God has called her home to do her great work among the heavens. You have lost a loved one and the world has lost a spirit that can never be replaced. Thank you for raising an amazing person. God bless all of you.

Puzey family,

I just saw the 20/20 story on Kate's murder. I can't imagine the depth of grief you are experiencing over this tragedy. I want you to know that I was inspired by Kate's story. She is truly a hero. Her bravery certainly changed the lives of the young women in Africa. We need more people like Kate in this world.

To the Puzey family,

I'm so deeply saddened to hear of Kate's passing. I met Kate during my short stint with Peace Corps Benin in July of 2008. I didn't know Kate for long, but I'd like you to know that I was struck by her kind, welcoming, and generous spirit. May you find peace in knowing that she made innumerable contributions to the lives of those around her. My prayers are with all of you.

I did not know Kate but my daughter is about the same age and is serving in the Peace Corps in Zambia. In the back of our minds, this is our worst nightmare come true. My heart goes out to her family. My sincere condolences.

I just learned of Kate's death and have not been able to get her or her family out of my mind. My daughter, Sarah Polk, went to school with Kate in Okinawa, Japan and graduated with her. I still remember Kate's stirring thoughts she shared in her speech as the class validictorian. She was one of the most amazing, caring, humble, giving, and compassionate girls I had ever met. Her parents and brother David and anyone who had the privilege of knowing Kate realizes we have lost an angel. My prayers are with you all. May you feel God's peace and Kate's love throughout the days ahead.

I just learned of Kate's death and I am so, so sorry. The news hit me so directly because my son was a PCV in Togo for two years recently and I met so many wonderful young Americans serving their country in West Africa when we visited him in his village. Why do bad things happen to such good people? We will never know the answer but we will live our lives with her in our hearts.
