Kathleen Cook Foye, 70, of Cumming passed away April 16, 2011, at Embracing Hospice House following a courageous fight with esophageal cancer. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John J. Cook Sr. and Mary Cleary Cook.
Kathleen earned her RN degree at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and worked as an oncology nurse and later as a case manager. An active member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, she was also an avid bridge player. Her special attention was reserved for her beloved husband, children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Edward J. Foye Sr. of Cumming; son, Edward J. (Amy) Foye Jr. of Alpharetta; daughters, Karen (John) Murray of Alpharetta, Jennifer (Richard) Gravely of Alpharetta; brothers, John J. (Joette) Cook Jr. of Wellsley, Mass., William J. (Colleen) Cook of White Plains, N.Y., Lawrence T. (Suzie) Cook of Milford, Conn., Robert W. (Debra) Cook of Mebane, N.C.; grandchildren, Shane, Megan, Madeline, Matthew, Meredith and Ryan; and a loving extended family.
Memorial mass will be held Saturday, April 30, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Brendan Catholic Church. Interment will be held April 29 at 1:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Kathleen's memory to Embracing Hospice House, 8013 Majors Road, Cumming, GA 30041 or to the Atlanta Cancer Care Foundation at www.atlantacancercarefoundation.org.
