Thank you from the bottom of my heart for inspiring my career as a music teacher. We will miss you, but I know you are at peace and with God. Play on!

I met Van Cliburn by chance at breakfast in the Hyatt hotel in Nashville in the early 80s. I greeted him and he invited me to join him for breakfast. We had a most engaging time talking about music, music schools and performances. As an Eastman School of Music grad I was able to share with him mutual acquaintances and friends. Mostly, I listened to him share about his years as a young concert artist. But he also seemed genuinely interested in my music career as well. He was a most gracious and kind person. I was honored to spend time with him.

A great musician, a great man, a great Texan.

Such an amazing talent and a warm and gracious human being. I met Mr. Cliburn at La Piazza in Fort Worth several years ago while he enjoyed time/dinner with friends at his favorite spot in the bar. He always enjoyed hearing of my trip adventures and always asked to hear about the latest any time I saw him. I have missed those visits since moving to Palm Springs several years ago. He contributed so much to so many and will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Van Cliburn...
