To Ray's family, I went to Woodsville High School with Ray. I cannot think of a more honest, compassionate, and friendly person. I will always remember the wonderful friendship we have had for over 55 years. May he rest in peace and may all who knew him try to be more like him. Gail Gadwah, N. Woodstock,NH
I am from Bethlehem originally but have lived in Illinois for almost 40 years after getting out of the service. I was in contact with Councilman Burton about three years ago with a question about the Council in the late 50's. My father was a Councilman at that time under Gov.Dwinell. Ray was very kind and helpful in my quest. My deepest thoughts and prayers go to the family. Very sad loss for N.H.
LET THOUGHTS FROM GOD'S WORD COMFORT YOU AT THIS TIME.MATT. 5:5 "HAPPY ARE THE MILD-TEMPERED ONES,SINCE THEY WILL INHERIT THE EARTH...DEE
To the family of Ray, You must know how much Ray meant to all of us "North of Concord". Could always be counted on to protect our interests.
As a former labor leader, Ray could be counted on to do what was right for the citizens and workers of NH and never hesitated to meet with us.
He understood our possessiveness of the beauty of the north country and made it clear any challenges to it would be met straight on by him.
NH is a better place because of him and we pray that his presence is felt in the coming future of NH's legislature because there will be no replacement for his beliefs, knowledge, foresight, and defense in Concord. Someone may occupy his seat but no one can take his place.
Condolences to the Burton family and their loved ones. Sue and I will be praying. Thanks for all your heard work.
TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS, MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES. AT DIFFICULT TIMES AS THESE, THE GOD OF COMFORT GIVES US STRENGTH AND HOPE. PLEASE READ PLALM 94:19
It was a privilege to know Ray. He will be missed by all. Dick Flynn Dover, NH
Dear Burton Family-
I was saddened to read of Ray's passing. When I was a teen, growing up in Bridgewater, Ray encouraged me as I received various achievements and awards sending me copies of news articles and personal notes. It meant a great deal to me as a youth and has never been forgotten. When I read of his recent ill health I had planned to write to him but have missed the opportunity. I look forward to retiring back to Bridgewater in a couple of years and recognize the loss Grafton Country and New Hampshire realizes with Ray's passing. My prayers are with you all.
I am sorry for your loss. I hope you can find comfort in the words written at (Jeremiah 29:11,12)
Ray Burton, you were not only a class act, you were the only politician I have ever known to step up the plate for his citizens. You have helped me so much in all my endeavors. I challenge anyone in the NH legislature to attempt to follow your footsteps. You will be missed by us all. God bless you, your family and dearest friends
Such fond memories as a teacher and Principal in Andover.
Our prayers are with your family at this time. Mr. Burton will be missed, there is no other like him. May he rest is pease, his work is done.
With deepest sympathy to the Burton Family.
May the Hearer of Prayer (Psalm 83:18) give you strength, courage and peace during your time of sorrow. And may you always remember precious memories of Raymond.
To a good friend and a wonderful person. May you rest in peace since you have done your duty to the citizens of New Hampshire.
I went to college with Ray and have followed his career all these years. There are some pretty big shoes to fill up in the North Country he loved so much.
To the Burton family- Our sincere condolences to your family. Ray was a great person and will be missed. I am glad that I got to know him.
My deepest sorrow and tears to the family of the deceased. May these words bring you hope and consolation: "...Hear the promise God has made: He will call; the dead will answer. They shall live at his command. For he has a longing for the work of his own hand..." See John 14: 13-15, John 6: 40; 11: 11, 43; Jas. 4: 14
Matt: 25:21 "Well done my good and faithful servant". Now rest, you did all you could do. The world has lost a great one.
My condolences to the family and may you look to the future with confidence that soon death, sorrow and pain will be no more but everlasting life in a peaceful new world will prevail.
The Oleson family is very sorry to hear of the passing of our good friend Ray Burton. I knew Ray since college days at Plymouth State College and knew him to be a good and decent man. He and our father the late Senator Otto H. Oleson worked on numerous project that helped the north country. We were lucky to have Ray. Many folks in Concord think that there are only mosquitoes and deer-flies north of the notches. Rest in peace, old friend. Rev. Gerald Oleson, Bangor, Maine, and Jefferson, New Hampshire
May the God of all comfort be with you.
I am among the countless people Mr. Burton helped during his long career in public service. The North Country has lost its most ardent, and effective, advocate in Concord. I doubt that we'll ever see the likes of Mr. Burton again. He was sincere, and a true gentleman.
Great man! He is missed already.
Our heartfelt condolences to the citizens of New Hampshire for the loss of a great gentleman and dedicated councilor. It was so refreshing to read about how Councilor Burton was devoted to serving the people and addressing their needs, a passion that is progressively fading away. May your precious memories of him prove to be a source of comfort as you remember your friend with great fondness. Surely Jesus had Raymond Burton in mind when he voiced the words at Luke 23:43. "You will be with me in Paradise."
To The Burton Family, My Deepest Condolences on your husband and father's passing.Thoughts and Prayers to you all. Mr. Burton was a wonderful man. He helped us with our plight of getting our Maple Street bridge to be looked at for repairs. He also voted for the Bullying Prevention Law, I had notified him and asked that he please vote for it.Mr.Burton returned my phones which i was very surprised that he would because most politicians do not.I will not forget how great he was to talk to, he really cared about New Hampshire and the people.Rest In Peace and God Bless You , You will be deeply missed by many .
You were always so humble, and such a large part of all of our lives..you will never be forgotten...
Heartfelt condolences to the Burton family and their loved ones. May the God of all comfort be with you.
Simply, a wonderful man, a long-time friend, fellow college student, and perhaps the very definition of "the people's politician"---he will long be remembered and never forgotten for his unselfish dedication & service to HIS people of the North Country!! Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family & friends during this most difficult of times. Nancy & Jere Peabody
I know how much the North Country will miss Ray. No other region could have a better advocate than Ray Burton. Rest in Peace Ray.
Ray was a friend to us all and he made us all feel important because we could truly call him our friend. I will miss him and send my sympathy to his family,

Please accept my condolence.May you have comfort in knowing that your loved one is resting peacefully.(Ecclediastes 9:5)
The North Country and New Hampshire have lost an advocate, and we have all lost a friend. Rest in peace, Ray, and be assured that your memory will live on and that your legacy is found in the thousands who, based on your example, understand that one person can indeed make better the lives of many.
You will be Missed and can never be replaced
Today this world lost one of the most beautiful, genuine and loyal souls that has ever existed. R.I.P. Councilor Burton. There are know words to express how much you will be missed. Not only did you remain true to yourself and constituents throughout all your years in politics; but you also touched the heart's of all you came in contact with. You gave hope to many by always keeping your word. Your dedication to the Region 1- north country, NH and politics in general speaks volumes to who you truly were as a person.
I personally am devestated to have lost one of my hero's and friend today. Please shine down on us from heaven just as a gentle reminder you are watching over us.
My sincere thoughts and and heart felt prayers to your family and loved ones. I pray God holds your hearts close to his during this difficult time. God bless
A great public servant, an unyielding advocate for his North Country constituents and a loyal friend. A person like Ray doesn't come our way very often. We'll miss him.
Rest in Peace Ray. We loved you for the good and decent man you were. Wayne, Alice and Zach King
I am deeply saddened to hear of Ray's death. He was so close to our family and was always there. Ray was devoted to his constituents and didn't care about your politics, he always wanted to make sure your voice and issue was heard no mater what side of the issue you were on. The North Country has lost a true stallion of representation for them.
I will always have fond memories of Ray.
God be with him as he rests in peace.
God bless you and your loved ones ~ Rest in peace.
You will be missed by all Jim Karen & Leslie shortell
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
