I first heard Van Cliburn play in the 2 story wood frame Music School at Centenary College where I as a young teen ager was studying piano at the time in the early-mid 1950's. I have thrilled to and been inspired by him and his incredible musical gifts ever since. I still play the piano. I was so delighted to see him at the midnight Christmas service at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on several occasions. Sally Fox

I saw Van Cliburn in Chicago, a few months after he won the Tchaikovsky prize. Over 100,000 people were there (such a crowd has never been there since). He was remarkable. And he treated us to five encores!

Mr. Cliburn was my inspiration to learn classical piano. I remember spending hours practicing to his 33 RPM album. Just an inspirational person.

I will always remember being present when he was inducted into the Classical Music Hall of Fame. I experienced his famous charm...and saw him meet Rachmaninoff's grandson!
