Freddie, you are sorely missed. Thank you for your warmth towards me when I met you at Kimball's San Francisco in 1990. Bright moments man.

Briggie, my heart and my prayers go out to you and Freddie's son. I took a trip down memory lane, remembering the times, you would call to tell me of Freddie performing in the Bay Area. The times I would meet you and listen to Freddie. Sometimes I brought other friends of mine. My deceased father, John Stallworth, and brother Ernie love Freddie's music. I was not with you physically, but spiritually, my heart and family walked with you. My girls and grandchildren have been introduced to the album with you on the front from the '70s. Briggie, I've been where you are, so I know! Oh, I would love to read your book. Continue to look toward the hills, from which comes your strength, and may God Bless you and his son. Your friend from Riverside, CA. Laura Stallworth-McClarty

I, on occasion, thought of Mr. Freddie Hubbard. Wondering where he was. I heard of him but first saw him at a college in The Bronx, NY. He performed at, I believe Lehman College. I played in a band that backed up singers (Black Ivory). I don't remember if they were there performing or just the band. I do remember very well Mr. Hubbard playing a solo for what seemed about 20 minutes. It was and still is a memorable moment that I'll never forget. I'm 58 years old and did not know he was much older than I. It would have been great to tell him of how he impressed me with his talent. May God Bless us all for what he's contributed to God's creation. I'm just finding out he passed. I just thought to look him up on the internet.

I discovered Freddie's music back in the 1970's when jazz fusion was becoming all the rage...at that time being an active trumpet player myself I envied his sound and to help celebrate the birth of my first child I bought a copy of his "Bundle Of Joy" album and played it over and over at the family party we had to welcome home the new baby...his music will always be a part of my life for sure...my condolences to his family...peace Freddie...
