I remember meeting Freddy when I worked at the Manning Avenue Free Studio which was a few blocks from Red and White Street where he grew up. He would always stop by the studio whenever he was in town. He would counsel, challenge, and otherwise encourage the kids who were there to always do their best. He was a great football player, but he was an even greater person. You could sense that he saw his celebrity as a gift to be used to help others. May he R.I.P.

Dear Coach,
You will be greatly missed, our friendship has spanned for many years and you have been the kindest and most generous man and friend anyone could ever have. I have learned so much from you and your patient guidance. You were
blessed with an Angel,"Dee" and you knew it, she is an amazing woman and loved you dearly. I want to say what an honor it was to have known you and called you friend, Coach, We love you.
We will have your family in our prayers.

My deepest sympathy to the Solomon Family. I did not know him personally but I was proud to know a young black male from Sumter, SC had made it to professional football and was doing well. I was from Mayesville, SC and it made me proud to say he was from Sumter and and how proud and historic for him to make it in the profession.
