I guess god will let you help out some in heaven. you were a hard working man and good father. you gave advice to people good or bad whether they wanted to hear it or not. so rest in heaven in your new body free of pain and suffering brother Vernon. we will all be okay down here. may you rest in peace and we all love you forever and have your memories to cherish in our heart.

Vernon, You were my second father. You were always there to give me advice, help us out, pick on me and aggravate me but most of all I know you love me just as much as we all love you. I know you will always be here still with us and guide us everyday but it won't be the same. We will talk to you everyday and in our prayers at night with the boys. They sure do have a great Pappy to look up to. We miss and love you now and will always.

Mr. Keeney was always there for my son and for many other kids. He was there to talk to no matter who you were and what your age was, his door was open. WOW, where do you find someone like that these days? I may not have seen him much but it was comforting to know that he was just right down the road. May his family continue with the values Mr. Keeney taught them as he obviously loved them very much. GOD BLESS and know that he is watching all of us. The MORRIS FAMILY, LEE, LEN & DEB.

To the Children of Vernon, Uncle Donnie and Roger, other family members and friends.
First I would like to let all of you know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Now, I would like to share a story about Vernon. I was a step daughter of Martha (Brashears) Stull. I married a Marine and moved to NC for several years; after leaving the USMC we moved back to MD where David got a job with Hahn. After a few days he came home and said "I met the coolest guy last night-he knows EVERYTHING!!!" I said "really what's his name?" He said "you won't know him but his name is Vernon Keeney." I said "he is crazy and funny as hell?" Giving me a strange look he said "yes." So, I informed him that I did indeed know Vernon from my childhood and his brothers Donnie and Roger. After a few days he ran into Vernon and asked him if he knew me; to my surprise Vernon told him yes-and proceeded to tell stories-some not so flattering-and of course LOTS of added that was not true! LOL To this day my husband thinks the world of Vernon-Vernon taught him as "the new kid on the block" at Hahn the ins and outs of hauling fuel;and lots of little things to make his job easier and more productive. Much to my husbands dismay he left his job at Hahn and we left MD and moved
to SC. He landed a job here at a gas company. He came home after his first day and said "damn I could have used Vernon last night"; there was a traffic backup and being new to the area David didnt know an alternative route. Seems Vernon knew all the alternative routes and passed them on to David, along with other bits of vital information. I never saw the professional side of Vernon...but, even now 40 years later I can tell you that if Vernon, Donnie and Roger were together there was going to be FUN and lots of it!
Rest in peace Vernon, you have lived a good life, impacted many lives and gave everyone you met a good laugh! I know heaven being a happy place is much more funnier with you there! So, drive that tanker and create even more happiness!

Vernon was a wonderful man who would help anyone he could and put a smile on everyone's face He was a great father and grandfather. I will never forget his caring ways and his laughter "she's your momma Tiffany"... It was too soon for him to leave and lots of people still need him, though we don't get to choose our time I know he is in heaven watching over everyone he cares about and making everyone laugh he hasn't seen in awhile ..I miss you Vernon & I will remember you always xo
