Mr. Hayes "Jim" William Huffer Sr. 92 of Brunswick MD died February 14, 2013 at the VA Center in Martinsburg WV.
Born on November 18, 1920 in Burkettsville MD he was the son of the late Harry Russell Huffer and Annie May Remsburg.
Jim as he was known to most retired from the B&O Railroad in Brunswick and the Norfolk Naval yard as a machinist in 1982. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 96 and the VFW Post 10421 both of Brunswick.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Myrtle Kronk Huffer, a Daughter Linda and husband Robert Balagna of Groveland IL; Son Hayes and Donna Huffer Jr. of Jefferson MD; Brother Harry "Rainey" Huffer of Rosemont MD; Grandchildren Heather and Steve Charchut of East Lansing MI; Holly and John Finney of Harpers Ferry WV; Kendra and Dave Bailey of Morton IL; Sarah and Justin McChesney of Davenport IA; Korrinne and Thong Nguyen of Ashburn VA; Kevin and Nicky Umbaugh of Sumter SC; Kristin and Chris Dunham of Italy and 10 Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, Daughter Bonnie Umbaugh; two Brothers, Paul Ivan "Bucky" Huffer and Howard "Red" Huffer; and a Sister Evelyn Maxine Jessee.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday February 19, 2013 from 7 to 9 PM at the John T. Williams Funeral Home, 100 Petersville Road, Brunswick MD where funeral services will take place at 2 PM Wednesday February 20, 2013. Officiating will be Pastor John and Rebecca Shillingburg. Mr. Huffer will be buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Petersville MD.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson MD 21755 or the Grace Episcopal Church, 114 East "A" Street, Brunswick MD 21716.
Professional services have been provided by the John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick MD.
