Promoted to Glory by our Lord and Savior took Herbert W. Trageser, Sr. on August 28, 2013. Born on Dec. 15, 1927 in the District of Columbia, he was the husband of Faye (Glace) Trageser, and son of the late John A. and Grace (Pierce) Trageser. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
A veteran of World War II, Mr. Trageser was a member of American Legion Post 191, and he loved going to Church at Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church. He loved cutting his grass and had a beautiful yard; loved his Wrangler Jeep and collecting antiques, grilling steaks outdoors (he was told he grilled the "best steak"), and planting tomatoes and sharing them with others. His laughter will be missed but his warmth and giving ways will forever reside within our hearts.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his son, Herbert, Jr. & wife Sherry Lynn, daughter, Margaret Gurick & husband John, son Ron Welsh & wife Erin, son George & wife Christine; brother Charles Leonard; sister Shirley Terry; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda, sons Ronald and Glen, brothers John Henry and Robert, sisters Grace Evelyn, Gertrude, Henrietta, and his first wife, Margaret (Farrell) Trageser.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" ~ 2 Timothy 4:7. What a blessing for him to be absent from the body and present with the Lord.
Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 AM on Wednesday, September 4th at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15 N in Frederick, where a funeral service will begin at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, 17455 Old Frederick Rd., Mt. Airy, MD 21771.

"God's Garden"
God looked around his garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone…
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
