Edward Paul Baloian was born on September 29, 1921, to Charles and Baidzar Baloian. His parents emigrated from Armenia to the United States and made their home in Fresno, where Ed was born. Ed graduated from Fresno High School and worked with his father in farming and distributing local fruits and vegetables. In 1942, Ed married the love of his life, Dorothy Neola Hicks. Soon after, Ed was drafted into the United States Army and served our country in World War II. As he was deployed in the European Theatre, Ed and Dorothy welcomed their first child, Joyce, in 1943. Their two sons, Bruce and Timothy, were born later to complete their family. Upon Ed's return to Fresno, and with his father and brother Jim, they formed the Charles Baloian Company, distributing produce. Their business grew and became one of the largest wholesalers of fruits and vegetables in the state. In 1965, Ed created Pam-Pak Distributors, Inc., representing grower merchandise all over the United States and Canada. During this time, Ed started farming the produce he shipped. In 1986, Ed and his son Timothy started Baloian Packing Company, Inc. His hard work and leadership created this company to ship fresh vegetables all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Ed loved growing and distributing fresh, high quality vegetables knowing that he created good food for people to eat and enjoy. Ed loved the Lord and he served him diligently. Ed was a faithful member of Peoples Church. Ed also appreciated giving back to the community and he participated in Northwest Fresno Rotary for several years. Ed loved flying and was ready to fly anyone, to anyplace, at anytime. More than flying, he enjoyed his family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was influential in each of their lives. Ed entered heavenly glory on August 2, 2014. Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Baidzar; brother Jim; and sister, Irene Manselian. Ed is survived by his wife Dorothy; his children, Joyce Markarian and her husband Robert, Bruce and his wife Karin, and Timothy and his wife Barbara. Ed is also survived by his grandchildren, Jennifer Markarian, Matt Markarian, Jill Kahrimanian, Jacob Baloian, Peter Baloian, Jon Baloian, Elise Baloian, Emily Baloian-Martinez, Julie Baloian-Grabe, and Melissa Baloian Sahatjian; and many great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2014, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the G.L. I have seen Mr. Baloian almost every day for the last two years as he and my Mom reside in the same home. My entire family loved the shadow box pictures that told us about him and it is so sad not to see it when we come around the corner. I know this was a very loved and respected man and I especially want to say that the young man who picked him up and brought him back every day so he could go to work was an amazing young man. His patience, understanding and empathy touched my heart each time I saw him. My sincere sympathy for all of your loss.

When I was a young man I had the privilege of working for Ed. Always kind and fair, friendly and strong, a leader by example and a person of strong faith, Ed was like a father figure to me. His work ethic was tireless, his morals were always in tact, and devotion to family was his greatest pleasure. How could one not be influenced in the most positive way by a man like that. My sincerest condolences to Tim and Barbara, and the entire Baloian Family. Stuart Poytress

To The Baloian Family,
I wish to say sorry for your loss! My father Paul C. Moreno and mom Fidela Moreno worked for your family business for many years. I do remember hearing my father saying good things about "Eddie" as my dad called him. He treated my father with a lot of respect and dignity. I know he is in heaven and at peace! My the Lord bless you all at this difficult time!

My deepest sympathy for the loss of one of the most honest, honorable and straight forward men to walk the face of this earth.
His integrity was beyond reproach and his unique way of 'calling it as he saw it' was his calling card. We all learned so much from Ed as he was a true leader in our industry.
Rest assured that your family has a special man looking down on them and all of us from his luxury box in heaven.
My love and condolences to the entire Baloian family.
