My sincere sympathy is extended to the Mitchem Family. Hinton was an outstanding part of goverment in Marshall County and Alabama. Being associated with him through the years was an honor to me. He will be greatly missed.
God bless each of you.
Marlon Killion, Marshall County Coroner

Mitchem Family,
Please accept my sympathy for your loss. Growing up on a farm, driving Ford tractors in Marshall County and being raised in a Democrat household, one knew who Hinton Mitchem was. He was an icon to many and a genuine friend to my family, even when my brother ran against him in the Senate race. I had the privilege of going to Montgomery as a House Page while in high school, working for him at the tractor dealership for a short spell after college and spent many hours on his campaign trails. May God comfort each of you. Sand Mountain is a better place because of a good ol' GA boy named Hinton Mitchem!

My prayers and love are with the whole family. Mr. Mitchem took me to my first Auburn/Alabama Iron Bowl. One of my dearest friends is his daughter Tonya...Thank-you for the fun memories! May God's arms be around all of you dearing this time.

You have never really been to a college football game until you go with Hinton and his entourage! Hinton made us smile and everybody's life interesting.
Judy, Barbara and family we share your sorrow.

Judy, My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Even though we have not seen each other in a long time those school bonds never die. If you need to talk or just cry on a shoulder call me and I will be there for you. May God Bless you and your family and carry you through this time of grief.

Hinton grew up in the Eastville community near Athens, GA and he and his family have always been remembered fondly. My cousin, Margaret Turnbull Hunter was just talking last week of how she enjoyed spending time with Hinton and his sisters when they were young. My father, Guy Carlton Gordon owned a store right next to their home. To be remembered well - There is no finer compliment. My prayers to the family.

I was very sorry to hear of Sen. Mitchem's passing. I'm with the Guntersville newspaper and he was a friend of the press in Marshall County. He was great to keep the people informed through the newspapers. We considered him more than a source of news, but a friend and he will be missed.

So sorry for your loss. I worked for Hinton back in 97, he was a good man.
