I will miss him greatly. My Dad had a lot of the same characteristics as Earnest. My Dad joined in World War 2. He had the Italian blood the same smile. My Dad died June 9th 2013. I hope as I get older I can smile the way these men did. We are from Detroit and My Grandfather changed our Last name. It was Marchi. I thought your Dad was awesome.
Enjoyed your acting since I was a child. I still enjoy seeing your movies. God rest your soul and thank you for all you did over the years including your service to our country. God Bless.

As a student in 1975 at John Jay College in NYC I was walking with classmates and told them "I always meet someone." They laughed until I saw Mr Borgnine and yelled out "Ernest Borgnine." He stopped and shook my hand, and we talked a bit. What a gentleman from the old days of Hollywood. I will never forget his graciousness. R.I.P.

As a kid i turn on tv and saw P,T 73 and movies he was in. Gary
i loved him in all the movies he played in he will be missed
loved all his work wild buntch was great but as i said loved it all rip sir gods' speed
You ruled & had the longest life ever! You were totally awesome, you would love to tell everyone stories! Thank you for all your long life, Ernest.
I first met him back in 1984, just before "Airwolf" was to make it's debut on national television. He was larger in life, I mean more larger in life than any living person I know!, and the kind of smile he had, wow!!.. and lets talk about his kid Chris, I can tell, Chris is exactly the same, 2 of the most beautiful human beings I have ever met in life!. I got to see Chris during the filming of On The Bus, the Sun Bum Bus that Ernie loved to drive on the road. Remember Kady Dids Chris? hehe.
I almost got to work with Ernie, but getting a hundred million dollars today to remake "Airwolf", has been a challenging task for me since the end of 2008. We were planning to do it, but finding that large of an amount had never been easy for us!. Sadly we never got it in time, and more sadly, we lost Ernie.
When that news came, it made my heart feel like someone had just shot me in it several times, over and over again!, I lost the chance to work with the greatest person in show business, on the planet!, and that dream of mine has now been shattered!.
I think what is most important here for all to realize, is that Ernie is resting in peace now!. If Ernie is laughing in Heaven beside God, like he laughed here with all of us, then I know God will send him back to us in some way!. We sure will miss you Ernie, and love you Forever.. Billy Lee with The Artist World Entertainment Group.
A truly loving man was Mr. Borgnine on film, his empathy for others was reflected in how well he portrayed his characters. We believed him in part, because he gave all of himself to helping us cheer and weep for whomever he became on film and T.V.…I will truly miss that gentle giant of a man.
The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection. Prov. 18:10
About twenty years ago on a flight to the west coast I spotted Mr. Borgine sitting several seats in front of me. Not wanting to disturb him I asked the flight attendant to deliver a note from me "thanking him for his outstanding and exemplary acting. After the attendant delivered the note Mr. Borgnine turned around, I gave a discreet wave of acknowledgement, and he gave me a big smile and threw me a kiss. My condolances to his family.

RIP Mr. Borgnine
I remember meeting him once at the Big Boy restaurant in Traverse City, MI. I didn't know it but he was doing a movie called Barn Red a Rich Bauer Production. I told him every one has a twin and he says what one would be his, I said Ernest Bornine, he said but he is ugly, I says no he's not but then he says but then he says again but he is really ugly, I says not and again he said it and I caught on and got close up to him and said, if you think he is Ugly, then he is very very ugly, now how's that, he just laughed. He was too funny. I love his movie "Marty." Love and Miss your Character, so much. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
Thank you for all that you had done. You were my all time favorite actor!! When my parents got divorced as a child, all I had to do was turn on the tv and you would cheer me up. 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
One of my favorite actors of all time, your acting abilities and tenderness with regular people are the reason you were so loved! God Bless you Tova and family during these tough times. You will be missed by many!
Loved seeing him in the Circus Parade in Milwaukee. He really enjoyed being a clown. RIP
Your roles in movies were superb, especially "Marty". I also greatly enjoyed your acting in "Barabbas" & "Jesus of Nazareth". You brought great sincerity & believability to the characters you portrayed making what had to be hard work look effortless on screen. You led an exemplary life & will be sorely missed. May GOD bless & protect your memory as well as the health of your family/friends remaining. Speaking for millions of fans, rest peacefully and thanks again for bringing so much joy & entertainment to the world.
My childhood hero. I loved Captain Mcale. A little over twenty years ago, I was grocery shopping with my baby daughter riding in the cart. I turned to find a man and woman smiling and making faces at her. They told me I had a beautiful child. It was Mr. and Mrs. Borgnine while they were visiting Soldotna, Alaska. Wonderful folks.
Family and Friends,
My deepest sympathy. My favorite films of his were Demetrius and the Gladiators and Barabbas. And I did get in trouble in the 5th grade in history class at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Rockford Illinois for singing Quinton McHale the Tiger of the Pacific jingle from one of the episodes from the first season.
May he be granted eternal rest.
SUCH A GREAT ACTOR REST IN PEACE

The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

MY CONDOLANCES, MR. BORGNINE WAS A FAVORITE OF MY ACTORS AND HE WILL BE MISSED AND HE BROUGHT LAUGHTER TILL HIS VERY END
Ernie and I met at his book signing at Chester County Book Company. Delightful and charming, with surprisingly cultured speech more like Shakespear than Rocky Balboa. As I held the hand that held the Oscar, someone snapped our picture, which now holds a place of honor in my home. He led a long, full life, comfortable with everyone from queens and kings to the clerk at the local WAWA. We'll miss you, Ernie. Thanks for all the terrific performances over the years, but forever Marty.
Condolences to Tova and the family.
Great gentleman with an even greater sense of humor. Met him when he came into the Las Vegas linen store to buy some sheeets for his R.V. Never forget his kindness and genuine love of life.
Fair Winds and Following Seas to a fellow Sailor. The Skipper of PT73 will be sorely missed. Mr. Borgnine was one of my favorite actors and loved that he continued to stay involved with the business. It's great that he did Mermaidman for the new generation of kids. Hopefully, the Parents will show them his picture.
DEAR TOVA AND FAMILY, I WILL FOREVER MISS HIM. I WILL BE WATCHING FOR HIS MOVIES FOREVER...
May the God of all comfort be with you at this time of grief, may all his memories stay close to your heart. Psalms 46:1 Joanna
I remember reading somewhere that Mr. Borgnine's agent had asked him to do this little movie, Marty. Up til then, he had been in numerous movies, but never had received any awards for them. Of course, he did receive the Academy Award for his incredibly poignant portrayal of this "fat, ugly man," - a butcher looking for love. May you rest in peace, Mr. Borgnine. Take your rest, because you have well deserved it.
A forever fan Leslie G.
Great Man, There will never be another like him.
Our heartfeldt Sympathy to Mr. Borgnine's family. Our Circus parade had another magic because of his giving of himself and Tova for her being by his side. His wonderful talent can be appreciated for generations thanks to technology. Thank you "Ernest" for sharing your talent with the world.

My condolences go out to his wife and family. Another great man has laid down his working tools and is now with the Supreme Architect of the Universe in the Celestial Lodge above. Rest in peace Mr. Borgnine Your Masonic family will miss you. To his wife I hope this helps you remember the good times and what an honor it is to be a Masons Wife. This is something I wrote for my husbands installation as the Master of his Lodge.
PROUD TO BE A MASON'S WIFE
Written by Sheila McGaughy
When I was young I had no clue.
The man I would marry would be from the Lodge of Blue.
Qualities I listed of my husband to be.
They equaled a man of the 3rd degree.
When we began our married life.
I was instructed as a Mason's wife.
If ever I was in trouble, with distance between us.
Look for a man who wears the square and the compass.
These are my brothers from the Lodge of Blue.
They are there to help when I'm not with you.
That when your life in the Celestial Lodge is to begin.
It should be in an apron of white lambskin.
Always striving a better man to be.
You achieved your 32nd degree.
When you became a Shriner of Nobility.
I stood beside you as your Lady.
No matter what degrees you've received in life.
I am always proud to be a Mason's Wife.
Mr. Borgnine thanks for sharing your talents with the world.

I am so sad! I loved this mas both as an actor and as a human being. I never get tired of revisiting his movies as well as his TV shows. I especially enjoyed his interviews in later life. The world is not suppose to have men like this leave. I am glad he was a part of my life.
A large part of my childhood was spent laughing at his shows. He will be missed.

Please accept my deepest sympathy to the entire Borgnine family. We were blessed with Mr. Borgnine's vast acting talent in outstanding quality television shows and movies. Mostly, my family and I will remember seeing Ernie and Tova every time they participated in The Great Circus Parade/Milwaukee Wisconsin. Mr. Borgnine, now you'll be able to connect with old parade pals who have passed on....Chappie Fox, Ben Barkin and my dad Gene Miles. We are forever grateful for you taking time to chat with my dad a few times either in The Great Circus Parade or one of the other events leading up to the parade. My dad cherished and was always proud to wear his Ernie Clown t-shirt!! Thanks for all the great memories and rest in peace. Until we meet again.... God's Blessings to all of the Borgnine Family.

My sincere sympathy to the Borgnine family. He was a true gentleman and a great Mason. The Masonic fraternity has lost a great Brother and Hollywood has lost a great actor.
Mr Borgnine brought so much joy to me from childhood on. I recently saw one of his older films, the name escapes me. I was so impressed by what a fine and versatile actor he was.
May God's peace comfort you.
I'm just a fan who was so blessed when he played "Jonathon" an angel sent by god to help Laura Ingalls on her journey to find that the real path to take was to return to her family instead of trying to carry guilt because she was so jealous of her new born baby brother who passed away and refused to pray for him when he was so sick. . The compassion he showed in that episode was so,anointed and I doubl that anyone could have played it better! My sympathy for the family andrayers for comfort at this time. Caeol Moorby (Clifton Park, N.Y.)
I was so shocked to hear of the passing of your husband, father and friend. He will always remain in my memory as a very versatile actor, a gentle person, and an all-around good guy. I hope he knew how many lives he touched in his lifetime, and how much he is missed. rest in peace.

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

Deepest sympathy to your whole family. Been watching reruns of his tv show and movies for years (bringing back happy memories of watching them for "real", many years ago). Some actors' "eye appeal" fades with age - but Mr Borgnine's roles, as he matured, only brought out his wonderful character and "realness" - endearing him to so many of us. Just watched an interview from a couple of years ago - and truly, he lived a happy, fulfilled life. A long life is a gift from God - and we were all blessed, because of it. God bless.
Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.
We got to "know" Ernie and Tova when we saw them at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee every July where they were the grand "Grand Marshalls" of The Great Circus Parade....So personable with that wonderful smile and a wave for everybody...My sincere condolences to the family.

One of a kind. He was wonderful in any role he played. My favorite was Airwolf. Rest in peace. The world has lost a great actor and a great man. Ernest, you were a class act and you will be missed greatly. May the family be blessed during the very sad time. RIP, you'll never be forgotten.
He will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him. May he also always be remembered for the complete man he was: Son, Husband, Father, Serviceman, Actor, Humanitarian. God rest his soul.
He gave us so many laughs and happy times... He will be missed. I'm praying for peace for his family and loved ones as they go through this.
I would like to express my sadness and offer my condolences to Mr. Borgnine 's relatives. I had the honor of working on a show with him when I started my career as a grip. Mr. Borgnine was kind and respectful to all in the crew. He was a true gentleman.
What a wonderful man, actor and friend to our world..The world was such a better place with Mr Borgnine in it. We will miss the smile. We will miss you. God Bless your family during thier time of sorrow and pain..The world will mourn you. God is Greeting you. Welcome home Ernie, Welcome home.
We have lost a great actor....
To the family of Mr. Borgnine I express my deepest sympathy. What a wonderful actor he was. I loved the movie Marty, but the many laughs I had watching McHale's Navy I have never forgotten. I wish they would play the reruns on syndicated TV. I also loved the episode he played in Nash Bridges.
He will be missed by many.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
May I add my condolences to you, Tova, and your family. I so respected Ernie & his talent. He had a sparkle and a glow when he smiled, showing a wonderful spirit. You two were a classy couple. Wishing you the best as you grieve. May he RIP.
Your one of the best... love yeah Ernest
Thanks for all the laughs on McHale's Navy. I have the DVD collection and I enjoy watching you and the gang over and over. You brought enjoyment to millions of people. You can be proud of that!! Rest in peace, Commander.
May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
Ernest Borgnine was the best of the best!! My deepest condolences go to his entire family.
"Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Thanks for all the laughter and characters--my kids will always remember you in the Hallmark "Santa" movie! Prayers to you and yours.
What a wonderful actor! From the pathos of "Marty" to the sadism of Shack in "Emperor of the North Pole," Ernest Borgnine always delivered a thoroughly convincing performance. He will remain a true blessing to the world of motion pictures.
Being from the younger generation my favorite film is A Granpa for Christmas.RIP Mr. Borgnine.
To Tova & Family:
Just wanted to add to my previous entry. Yes, I felt "Marty" was Ernest's best work. But everyone should view his entire body of work, including the early film, "Johnny Guitar" with Joan Crawford (considered a classic) and the not-seen enough "Emperor of the North" where he squared off with Lee Marvin in one of the all-time great fight sequences on a flat-bed railroad car.
There's a saying that "one person can make a difference". Ernest Borgnine certainly made more than a difference as a person, actor and entertainer.
My condolences to you all. He will never be forgotten.
RIP Ernie. You were a wonderful man who brought many smiles and laughter to a lot of people, especially at Milwaukee's Circus Parade. God bless you and your family. We will miss you here.
God Bless your family. I use to watch McHales Navy when I was a kid, and other movies you stared in. You were a great actor. And you grew up in a great state
Who could the forget the original McHale's Navy television show? I loved his character as the CIA record keeper in the movie "Red". Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. The family of Ernest Borgnine have my deepest sympathy.
My thoughts and prayers to All the Family.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
Borgnine's Emmy-nominated appearance on ER at the age of 92 was not mentioned in this obituary, nor was his role in the movie RED just two years ago mentioned. The ER performance was incredible. He was a top-notch pro.
Fair winds and following seas Sailor. Thank you for being the patriot that you are. Thank you for all your greatness on and off the ship. My condolence to your family. May their faith comfort them.

My sincere condolences at the passing of Ernest Borgnine. His role as Quinten McHale was my favorite as a child. Surprisingly it served as a role model that I tried to emulate. A clever good natured leader who bent the rules and made it all come out ok in the end. I'm sure Mr. Borgnine was the same decent and gentle man off screen that he was on.
It was such an honor to see you in the Circus Parade in Milwaukee. I will treasure every memory of seeing you all those years. Milwaukee and Wisconsin loves you. Rest in Paradise! <3
Thank you for all the wonderful memories and great acting, my wife and i really enjoyed the movies you played in and your skill as an actor. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May you rest in peace.
To The Borgnine Family:
With Deepest Sympathy for the falling asleep in the Lord of Ernest of blessed memory.
I remember having breakfast a few times @ the Kahala Mandarin on Oahu and siting next to Ernest of blessed memory, his son, and daughter-in-law. And they were always gracious and friendly.
We lost a Great Movie Screen Icon!
May His Memory be Eternal!
With Deepest Sympathy,
Marjorie Cole and family. I met Ernest Borgnine several years ago at George Lindsey Film Festival and he was so very friendly. I really enjoyed getting to know him along with George Lindsay. He was a great actor and likeable man. He will be missed.
What a long and incredible life. What an outstanding actor/performer, most of which is available to all of us on DVD. May he rest in peace.
What a treasure he was to us all. He left us with such wonderful memories of him that will live on forever in his movies and television reruns. He was a real person whose talent has endured for decades and didn't fade away like it did for so many with the onset of wrinkles. He didn't need to be pretty for his talent to shine through. He enjoyed a long and blessed life. It is never easy to lose our loved ones no matter how long we have had them in our lives. Condolences to his family.
GOD REST HIS SOLE, HE IS A BELOVED ACTOR, AND A TRUE POSITIVE ROLL MODEL. HIS MEMORY WILL BE CHERISHED.
Bye Skipper! Rest in peace.
Ernest, when my Dad would come home from work, he and I would have the happiest times, watching you on McHale's Navy. Thanks for those memories, which still resonate in me. Have fun entertaining on The Other Side! Blessings to your family
Sorry to hear of this great performer's passing. McHale's Navy was one of the favorite TV shows of my youth. Later in life, I came to appreciate Mr. Borgnine as a fine actor and a patriot. God Bless.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
May you forever rest in peace brother.
Thanks for all that you gave us,keep 'em laughing in heaven.
Tova and family,
I wish to express my sorrow for your loss. I feel your pain. All of us loved Ernest. He was a good man and an fantastic entertainer. Tova, I met you and Ernie, in the 1960's. You sat behind me on a flight from Los Angeles, to Phoenix, on Continental Airlines. The Stewardess told me you were sitting behind me and if I wanted to, I could talk to you after the flight took off. Needless to say, I did speak to both of you. Tova, you were beautiful, and your husband was great. I always remembered that talk and what a beautiful couple you made. It was quite obvious how much you loved one another. I thought that was wonderful. I am so happy that you two had so many years to share with one another. Know that you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers, asking God to be with you as you journey through your grief. May God keep all of you in His ever-loving care.
My condolences to the family in your time of sorrow. Know that God assures us that if we draw close to him, he will draw close to us. May your memories bring you comfort and strength. James 4:8
What a marvelous man with a smile and inner beauty and charm. His work will always be a cherished memory!
To the Borgnine Family:
May the Lord comfort you and grant you His peace and strength during this difficult time.
Ernest Borgnine was "one of a kind". What a wonderful sweet man and terrific actor. We always enjoyed him in all he appeared in. My mother sees "A Grandpa for Christmas" at least twice a month!!!

Rest in peace to a wonderful man and actor. It was always a pleasure seeing you on T.V. and having you around to enjoy your zest for life.
My favorite scene of Ernest Borgnine's is when he approaches the Lord in the movie "Jesus of Nazareth", as the centurion....asking for the Lord to only speak the word and his son would be healed.May that same Lord bring him safely home.....
Thank you Mr. Borgnino for your many talents. You will be missed. My condolences to your family and friends.

To Tova and the Borgnine Family:
It was a privilege and honor to meet Ernest about 4 years ago in Burbank. He could not have been nicer or more genuine. He signed some photos for me from my favorite movie, "Marty" and talked to me about aspects and memories of his Academy Award winning performance as Best Actor in it.
Many will remember him for his outstanding ability as an actor, and I particularly enjoyed his dramatic roles. However, few will be able to say they had an opportunity to meet him and have him look you in the eyes like I did. He even asked me about Chicago and told me about some of his favorite people there.
While I join in mourning his passing, I am grateful to be able to remember that one lone meeting and know that I can watch his many performances on DVD in the years to come.
While "Marty" may have been a "fat, ugly man" in his eyes, Ernest was a kind and beautiful individual who gave of himself to many.
May you cherish the fond memories of him in the days and years to come. He will never be forgotten.
Thanks for giving us such great movies and shows. You will be missed. God Bless and rest in peace now.

What a wonderful talent he was. He had great versatility and made his job look easy, which is why is was so good. We will all miss him and our prayers and respect go to his family.
Ernest has such a stellar history in show business - I cant remember when he wasnt around. I remember he played the part of an angel in Little House on the Prairie - and he was convincing as Jonathan. Antother great one goes and with that it seems fewer and fewer of the current actors are left to take their places.
They're almost all gone, after Andy the Wife and I were saying who's next, so sorry to see it's Ernest Borgnine. Ernest was great in everything he played in. I first remember him as McHale's Navy, we Loved that show. Now I'm setting here thinking who's next once more and all I can think of is Jerry Lewis. All of my childhood movie memories are almost all gone to a new movie land up stairs.
To one of the BEST
May you Rest In Peace.
William L. Murphy
