Clare's gifted legacy lives on in North Central Florida. I am forever blessed by having known Clare. Joyce Dolbier, Gainesville, Florida.

This beautiful woman (inside and out) was truly unique, so gentle, kind and loving and one who never failed to leave her mark on whoever she met. In the tiny village in Derbyshire where her father was Rector, she is still fondly remembered by the nonagenarians still living there. As my sister has already said, Clare touched the lives of our entire family (indeed she was an honoured guest at my daughter's first birthday 45 years ago)and together with Janos we enjoyed a wonderful reunion in May 1995 as we celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of VE Day. We will never forget her .....God bless her.

Clare was one of the most beautiful people I have ever known and we as a family feel truly blessed to have had her in our lives. Time spent with her was always so very precious - enjoying our shared love of nature, the excitement that the blooming of a particular flower had coincided with a visit, and the warmth, love and generous spirit that Clare had, and shared in abundance, with everyone. I will miss those precious moments so very much, but will be eternally grateful for the wealth of happy memories - our life as a family, as well as the lives of so many, I know, has been made so much richer by them. We are so sad that we are unable to be with our American family to celebrate Clare's life and share memories, but we will be with you all in spirit, as always.

To Sibet & John and the host of family and loving friends,
Our love and prayers go out to all of you on Clare's passing.
She moved on to a greater joy in a more perfect relationship with a loving God, and likely in a land offering greater possibilities for horticultural perfection. It has been a blessing for Kathy & I to have known Clare and even the small portion of her life's experiences and those of her family. We would have loved to have read a collection of her own stories covering the same period as The Long Journey Home. She was a light not easily dimed and will be even more difficult to replace in her family and in the Family of Faith.
Blessings, Steve & Kathy Collins

Clare (and Janos, for to me they are a unit) was a wonderful, generous friend who welcomed my husband and me--and our dog--into her home, fed us home-baked bread and Hungarian stew, taught us to use the hot tub in the mornings, delighted in the azaleas and all the birds who were visiting just like us. Clare stayed up late to read my fledging novels and offer her comments. She was a example of resourcefulness and one of the most beautiful and gracefully-aged women I've known. She and Janos were gifts from God to us. They modeled hospitality, acceptance, and affirmation and we are so glad they were in our lives.
