CRUM, CARL ANDERSON
Carl Anderson Crum, 91 years old left us on December 30, 2012 at Haven Hospice of Gainesville. Carl was born on November 17, 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After his service during World War II, he was employed as an airline mechanic at Pan American World Air Airway Ferry (PAAF) in Miami, Florida. He is a honorable veteran (discharged from service in San Francisco in 1945) and loved his family, his country and his friends. After working at Pan American, he founded several construction companies and had a very successful contracting career in South Florida, including association with the FAA and completing renovations to airports in over four states that have resulted in making our airline travel safer for all passengers even today. After retiring in 1978 he built the home of his dreams with his son Kevin in Newberry, Florida, and resided there for 29 years until relocating to Emeritus Assisted Living Facility. He had numerous friends there which will dearly miss his companionship. After his wife's passing, he donated his time to Haven Hospice and cared for many patients in their time of need. One of his proudest moments was when he received his pilot's license and took his three children flying over Miami.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence Moni Crum, who was called to the Lord in 2001. He is survived by his sister, Verda Green (late Henry Green) of Coral Gables, Florida and his three children, Cathleen Ann Crum (Dennis Vince) of Alachua, Kevin Crum (Debra) of Gainesville and Ron Crum (Peggy) of Severn, Maryland. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Stephanie Crum (Charles Anderson) and Anthony Crum, and Stephanie's son, his great grandchild Alexander Anderson.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606. The family will be receiving friends at MILAM FUNERAL HOME, 22405 West Newberry Road, Newberry, Florida on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. A private burial service will be reserved for family only.

One of my memories of Uncle Carl was when I was a little girl he came to visit us at Grandma Crum's house. When he stood in the kitchen and talked he could rest his elbow on top of the refrigerator. I thought he was the tallest person I had ever seen.
Carl went on make some of the tallest accomplishments thoughout his life that far surpassed his physical stature.
I will always have fond and proud memories of Uncle Carl.
