Dear Bonita, we didn't know you well but remember the days when you met Richard, and we were happy for him. Richard was our neighboring tenant in an apartment building near the ocean in Jacksonville Beach. We had many wonderful memories from that time because the tenants in all 4 units interacted as friends and creative artist souls. There was Terry Doolan, Shea Doolan, myself (Nancy Doolan) and a few other characters who came and went. Richard was a wonderful neighbor who contributed to the fun in his special way. We went to visit him in his early Hawthorne days and he joined us on one of those long canoe trips in the Ocala forest. He also bought one or two of my paintings, the jazz musician painting comes to mind. We were intrigued on the potential of his Hawthorne estate and wondered how it went in the ensuing years. In fact, we were recently reminiscing on the days of Richard in our life, which is why I decided to google him. I am so sorry to have come across this news of his loss, and I hope you are doing okay Bonita, in the aftermath. He was a great guy! I would love to hear from you if you'd like to follow up with any sort of reply. My email is [email protected] Best wishes for your well being.

.. just got the sad news today. Richard (Dick) became my treasured friend when he came to Texas A&M. He was a professor and I ran the media center at the College of Architecture. We became fast friends and remained so for severasl years. I went off to Mexico and Dick came to visit in my early years here.. always jovial, a unique laugh to remember him by ..for several years we stayed in touch 'til he returned to his life in Florida and I continued here. Some folks enter your life briefly and are gone. Others may enter your life and leave a lasting impression. Dick was such a person for me. Twas sad new I received today yet gladdens me in knowing that his spirit soars on. Fare thee well dear ole treasured friend.

To my special friend, Richard. Your abrupt departure from this life has left empty space in many of us. As you get settled in I am sure you will be creating exceptional art there in heaven.
