Stuart and I met in 1975. We studied organic growing methods together and oh how that man could grow a garden of fantastic veggies surrounded buy stunning flowers, especially roses. We had many great adventures in life together and I was blessed to be with him at the end. God speed old friend, we will meet again sometime.

I first met Stuart as a child when my mother returned to college and Stuart was her professor in Anthropology. He bacame a close friend of our family. His booming presence, entertaining and funny stories and the way he could walk into a room making everything and everyone come to life, will be greatly missed.

Stuart was one of the greatest teachers I had the pleasure of meeting and learning from at Santa Fe. My husband actually took a class with him years before I did, and we talked about Stu and the class, on a regular basis. I know he lived to the fullest though, and had said that if he could live his life all over again, the only thing he would change, would be to come back smaller, so he could be a jockey. What a great guy, and what a profound loss.

I met Stuart by chance and when he found out I was attending SFCC, he invited me to take his "Into to Cultural Anthropology" class. The next day he stopped by my work and gave me all the books, flash cards and reading material I would need, with no obligation to take his class.

From there, I took the class, fell in love with Anthropology and never looked back. Through the years, I attended all Stuart's classes and even assisted teaching some for him.

Stuart, you will forever be my favorite professor. Thanks for caring enough to invite me into your world. You will be missed.

I am sorry to hear of Stuart's passing. I was a student of his at Santa Fe. Occasionally I was called upon to dog sit with his Great Dane Moose. When he moved out to the country I was asked to take care of the horses. All of which I was so happy to do. Stuart was a great friend and a great teacher. I am sorry for the loss of this amazing man.

God is the love intelligence that guides the universe...wherever God is Stuart is. I am filled with gratitude and gratefulness that I was blessed to have known him for 33 years and he married my husband, Ben Dixon, and me so many years ago and, man was it a great party! His voice was as loud as thunder and I am thankful for it because the memory of it will always make me smile. Ruth Dixon
