Gainesville - Mr. Charles Dunbar, Sr., age 83, U.S. Army Sergeant, and recipient of the Purple Heart during the Korean War, passed away May 30, 2014 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center. Mr. Dunbar earned his Bachelor's Degree and was employed as a Registered Nurse.
He is survived by his children, Charles Dunbar, Jr., Atlantic City, NJ, Jacquelyn Dunbar, Gainesville, FL; sisters, Lillie Bell Sims, Juanita Sterling, Jessie Lee Douglas, all of Gainesville, FL, Beulah Dunbar, Minneapolis, MN; long time companion, Jacquelyn Turner, Atlanta, GA.
Funeral Services for Mr. Dunbar will be held, 11:00am, Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Rev. Geraldine W. McClellan, Officiating; burial will follow in Pleasant Plain Cemetery, Jonesville, FL. Arrangements entrusted to Chestnut Funeral Home, Inc., 18 N.W. 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL.
Mr. Dunbar will repose in the Chestnut Memorial Chapel on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 2:00 until 7:00pm, and on Saturday at the Church from 10:00am until the hour of service. Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday at the home of Ms. Becky Carter, 836 S.E. 12th Terrace, Gainesville, FL, at 10:15am to form the cortege.
