I live down the street from Camp Wildwood now where my Girl Scout Troop spent many weekends with Mr Scruggs as our leader learning outdoor skills. To this day, everytime I watch the weather, I think of 7th grade science when Mr Scruggs took us outside and taught us that a north wind comes from the north. Wish I had known what a history maker and innovator he was, even in my own life.

Bill Scruggs was one of the most remarkable teachers and individuals that I have known. We was a mentor to me as he was to many. He lived an exemplary life and taught by example, in the classroom and out. A remarkable and unforgettable man.

While I never had Mr. Scruggs as a shop teacher at Lake Weir, I did enjoy getting to know him the last 3 to 4 years having long lunches as he traveled thru Hendersonville, NC. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Jim Hunt

I only knew Bill for a short time, but he was such a nice guy! He was a wonderful addition to our card group - such a gentleman and with a spritely sense of humor. We will miss him.

As a young student we didn't realize what a great man our teacher was, but we all knew we held him in high regard and to this day still do. Evidently the world was well blessed with his presence and the person he was. Our prayers to the family.
