Good morning friends and family!!

Below you will find a link to Dane's Scholarship that I have started here in TX. In case you didn't know, Dane went to high school here in Texas the first year Warren High School opened. He served on their very first drill team and managed to be a part of the first competition that traveled to Colorado Nationals at USAFA, where he won first place. I have spoken to the cadets at the school, the administration, and the faculty. During my speech I found that there were at least three of his former teachers that did not know he had been KIA. They shared wonderful stories and memories of Dane with me. Every parent's dream is to know that their kid left an amazing impression on others.

If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please see the attachment for instructions. The NISD Education Foundation (NEF) is tax deductible. Not only is this scholarship something that Dane would have wanted, it's such a wonderful legacy that he has left behind. This scholarship will also give a student a chance at an education. Through efforts like this, Dane's memory continues to stay alive in my heart and yours too.

If you are unable to donate, I understand and please know that I appreciate all your prayers and support that you have provided me and my family in so many other ways. For that I can't thank you enough! You all have truly been my rock over the years!

Love to you all!

Dane,

We will never forget you, nor the sacrifice that you gave for this great nation that we call home. I can't fake-- I haven't played drums since you left us almost 6 and a half years ago. I thought about picking up some drumsticks to start back up, but it's hard. Brings back too many raw emotions. Too many memories. I love and miss you bro. I have one of the sharpest guardian angels I could ever ask for, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Salute.

I love you Nephew, always on my mind! Thank you for your service and sacrifice! Little things like the commitment you made to learning to twirl those ROTC rifles motivates me when I reflect on how good you became. In my eyes, you were the best! I love and miss you Dane.

RIP Nephew

Don't miss the debut of the U.S. Army Installation Management Command's
(IMCOM) Gold Star Pins Awareness Public Service Announcement(PSA) "Unsung
Heroes" featuring actual Survivors with narration by actor Gary Sinise. The
PSA is scheduled to air during the Super Bowl pre-game show on the FOX
network this Sunday Feb. 2. It is set to air within 30 minutes of kick off
time, most likely right after the President's remarks.

After the debut, the PSA will be posted to our awareness campaign website,
www.goldstarpins.org. We encourage you to remember and honor surviving
military Families by sharing the PSA and link with others.

The purpose of the PSA and the awareness campaign is to educate the Army and
the American public about the meanings of the Gold Star Pins. We want to
urge every American to remember, respect and honor our Fallen military
heroes and the sacrifice and strength of surviving families.

Help show your support by making the Army's Gold Star Pins awareness
campaign go viral. Repost and retweet messages from IMCOM's and Army Family
and MWR's Facebook and Twitter to your family, friends and respective
organizations!

Wishes for a happy new year to the family! I pray all can reflect on every cherished memory of this wonderful young man with relief from sadness, and that the memories continue to help ease the grief.

My son Bradley K. Fox had just gone into the Army and I learned of Dane R. Balcon's passing around this time ... Bradley hoped since the age of 12 to have a lifelong military career -- it was all he talked about -- but was injured in basic combat training and came home. He could go back now that he is healed, but could be injured again so he plans to attend college in spring. He's very smart in computers; I feel he can have a good career in them. I have always been grateful to our military, but now I've been an Army mom, I appreciate at a greater level each man, woman and canine who have serve.

I did not know you, young man ... but came to express my appreciation for your service, helping preserve our freedom. What a fine person and great soldier who gave all .... I know God is watching over your family and all loved ones for you until they're able to join you in His Holy Kingdom someday. I pray I'll be there too and that I get to shake your hand and give a hug of thanks to you and all of them. Thank you.
