Hello,
This is Emerald Gomez. We went to high school in San Antonio, Texas together. We loved ever second we spent with Dane in the ROTC. He was the life of everyday. From him always talking about the Army, to him always picking up something to spin everytime he talked, even to him just always talking soo loud. We oved your son very much here at Warren High School. Especially the two Drill Teams that we all considered ourselves a FAMILY!! SILVER GUARDS AND SILVER GUARDIANS!!! GUARDS FOR LIFE, BROTHERS TIL DEATH!!! WE LOVE YOU DANE!!!! May your son live on forever in spirit with you and with the ones who loved him.

I cannot begin to express the sorrow I feel for your loss. My heart, love and prayers go out to Dane and all of his family and friends. Dane was a wonderful young man that I had the opportunity to know. I know personally that he had amazing parents that are the best possible role models for any kid to emulate. The bible states, "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life." (Revelation 2:10) Dane, I know that you are wearing your heavenly crown. You are now and forever will be a hero worthy of a crown. God Bless You!!!

Carla and Family,
I am deeply saddened by your loss. I remember Dane as a fine young man that I know you loved so dearly and are so proud of. I hope you find peace and acceptance in your heart. This is a horrific experience, be strong and forgiving.

To the Balcon Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. My son knew and liked Dane. On Friday night at the homecoming game...all the players (my son included) had Dane's name written on them...they won that game for your son. It was the first homecoming game Sand Creek has ever won. They had fireworks and a moment of silence for Dane at half time. From where I was....I don't think there was a dry eye and it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. My husband has been to Iraq twice since we have been stationed here...every time I hear of a fellow fallen soldier my heart breaks. Your son is a true hero not just to me but to many others that value our freedom!!!!
My heart goes out to your family.

I didn't personally know Pfc. Balcon, but I do know your pain as I recently had a soldier killed in action. Many prayers from our family to yours for your sacrifice, and thank you so much for the hero the world was able know.

Sincerely,

To my dearest friend and sister, Carla.
Words can't express the pain and sorrow you must be going through right now. But know that I am here for you always. I have known you for nearly twenty years and Dane for all of his life. This is my loss too. My prayers are with you and your family. I love you my friend, my sister.
