Ronald (Ron) E. Goldman, age 43, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away on August 13, 2013 in Coon Rapids, MN.
Ron is survived by his wife, Karina; daughters Miette and Evie; mother and father Ken and Nancy Goldman; grandmother Arline Goldman; sister Aime Lonto (Kelly); brother Ray Goldman; nephews Jack and Joe Lonto; his daughters' mother and stepfather, Sarah Hope and Matt Chmielarczyk; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In addition, Ron is survived by his lovingly rescued pets, Chloe, Cato and Katie.
Ron grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 1988. After high school, Ron stayed in Minnesota, attended the University of Minnesota and immersed himself in the Minneapolis music scene. Ron played bass guitar in a band called "Puzzle Factory" that played for recording artist Prince at his Paisley Park Studio.
In 1997, Ron, Sarah and 7 month-old Miette moved from Minnesota to Colorado; Evie was born in Colorado in 1998. After Ron and Sarah parted ways, Miette and Evie's stepfather, Matt, came into their lives. Ron and Karina met in 2007 and were married on a tiny island in the Bahamas in 2009.
Ron worked primarily in the newspaper business, most recently at The Gazette and The Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Ron loved anything to do with music and was so proud of Miette and Evie's musical accomplishments. In addition to music and his family, Ron's other loves were fishing, traveling, snorkeling, the Minnesota Vikings and Fantasy Football. In their years together, Ron and Karina took many road trips to beautiful places. Ron, Karina and their daughters had some of their best times together in and around water; vacationing in the Bahamas, annual trips to the lakes of Minnesota and fishing in Colorado.
Our Ron will be remembered for his humor, his intelligence, his kindness, his gentle spirit, his thoughtful introspection and his willingness to help others. In his lifetime, Ron served as a friend and mentor to many who sought wisdom and guidance.
Memorial services were held in Minnesota on August 17, 2013. A celebration of Ron's life will be held in Colorado Springs on Saturday, October 19th at 7:00 pm at the Hillside Community Center, 925 S. Institute.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please honor Ron's memory by living love.
Upon hearing of Ron's death at such a young age, one of his childhood friends said, "Ron is the best short story I ever read."
We love you, Ron.
