NORTHAMPTON - Eleanor A. Lastumbo Dennis passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, in the Life Care center of Wilbraham.
She was born Dec. 28, 1911 in Northampton the daughter of Dominic and Carolina Conz Lastumbo.
She was raised in Northampton and attended local schools. She worked for the former McCallum Hosiery in Northampton where she was a seamstress, designing hosiery for Broadway productions, including the Rockettes.
She married Gordon Dennis in 1934, who was a former metal shop teacher in Easthampton High School.
They made their home in Easthampton on Wilton road for 64 years. Eleanor was a member of the Easthampton Congregational Church and was active in the Womans Club and Mothers Club of the church.
Mrs. Dennis is survived by her daughter Joyce Hess of Wilbraham, two grandchildren, Carolyn O'Donnell of Belchertown and Douglas Hess of Hampden, five great-grandchildren, Ashley and Dylan Hess, Kate, Thomas and Michael O'Donnell and a niece and nephew. Eleanor was predeceased by five siblings.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal friend.
She will be sorely missed as an inspiration and loving present by all whose lives she touched.
Services will be private.
Memorial gifts in her memory may be made to a charity of one's own choice.

I was so sorry to hear of Ellie's passing. She always had a generous smile to give and never a cross word. I enjoyed her life stories so much!! She will be missed......

Ellie was an amzing woman! A true gem to anyone that knew her! She was thoughtful and kind. Always had a positive out-look on life and our crazy world that we live in! Her daughter and her family will always feel her presence because she loved you all unconditionally! Peace be with all of you.
