Truly sorry to just learn of Mark's death. I never met Mark but his father and my dad [B. H. Heiman] were first cousins and dad always spoke so highly of his aunt Nora [Heiman] and her husband Henry Berens sr. and their family of Summerfield, ks. You have our family's sympathy. En realidad fue un gran amigo, siempre le recordaré-

Mark was definitely was one of the "good guys" in our class at Hooper High School. He was very intelligent, a good athlete, had a great sense of humor and was a great friend of mine in high school.
I have many fond memories of Mark from our days in high school.
One memory of Mark is the night I drove over to his place. I believe we had a project to work on. Anyway I remember meeting his Mother and Father, the only time I remember see them. It was snowing and wet out. When I was ready to leave, I backed out of the drive way and went a little too far and got stuck in the ditch. Mark hopped on his bicycle and rode to a neighbor to borrow their tractor to pull me out. That was Mark always ready to help out.
He will be missed by all of his high school classmates
I had only met Mark twice, but he showed so much sincerity that it really touched my heart. I wish there had been more time to truly get to know how caring that he actually was.
Leslie, I am so saddened by your loss. God go with you in life as you savor the memories of your life with Mark.
SINCERELY, Ethel Clemons (Kathy's mom)
To A great man who showed me how to love all and not just some. Mark and I always had a love for all animals in common but, for him, he taught me how to love all people. A very generous soul, who cared for all that came before him, even a spiders(ewe Mark)lol. I am so happy I was able to let you know how much I missed you and loved you while I was in Atlanta. I wasn't able to make it back in time but at least you knew you touched Tatiyahna and myself forever. RIP Doctor. Bless you Leslie for knowing you has made me a better person too. As I called you two, Sonny and Cher. I learned about a true relationship through the both of you. That love can last forever. Thank you for inviting us into your family.
Vaya con Dios.

Dr. Berens was a great person. Met up with him in 1989 when we got our dog Tuko. After 14 years, Tuko got very ill, and when the end was there, Dr. Berens cried along with us as Tuko met his maker. He was a great guy, and we will miss him.
You shed such powerful healing on all the rescued animals I have been blessed to share my home with over the years. You even gave up a precious sunday to work on a bird salvaged from my cat's mouth. I will miss your gentle honesty.
So sad to hear of his passing. He took such good care of my pets. He went above and beyond calling to check on them when they were ill at all hours and on weekends. He always took the time to listen and handle them with a tender touch. Rest in peace.
So sad to hear of Dr. Beren's death. He was a wonderful vet and, we came to discover, a wonderful man. Smart, funny and kind. Condolences.
I'm so sorry that this wonderful man is gone. While he took perfect care of my Birman cats we became good friends and discussed every thing from politics to birds outside the window.
Our dog whisperer, Mark (choque) will forever live on in our hearts and fond memories of forty years. We are all better people for having known and spent time with this warm friend
. We are already missing him and will see him in our next lives as dogs. Leslie you were the best partner for Mark as he was for you. Abrazos, besos, luz y paz, Liz and Blair
So sad to hear of Dr. Berens passing. He was such a kind and compassionate man. Dr. Berens cared for our dog Malcolm for over 10 years and we all looked forward to seeing him. I think of him often. My thoughts are with his family. May he rest in peace.
Leslie, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family , at this very difficult time
Dee and I send our sympathy at your loss.
What a warm, kind, witty person, and what a wonderful vet he was. He gave his time so generously to spay and neuter stray cats, and to board them until they found homes. He even once saved the life of a possum that I found along the road on my way to the clinic! This was a rare person with a truly kind heart. We have such warm memories of him, over so many years. Leslie, we are so very sorry for your loss.
Dr Deb and I send our deepest condolences to Leslie. Mark was a wonderful man and a valued colleague.
Mark, I will always remember the special times we shared together, you and I in NY City, visiting museums with our wives, our convivial dinners, and extraordinary care you showed our animals. You will remain with us.
A kind and compassionate man beyond measure. I will be eternally grateful for the care and understanding he gave our cat Muggie, treating her like the lady she was and she trusting him, which was great concession on her part. Mark grieved as greatly as we when we lost her at the age of 19 -- he had been her vet for most of her life. I am so sorry Mark is gone from us and my sympathies go out to Leslie and all who love him and will remember him forever.
You could always make me laugh. I have so many wonderful memories of you. You and Dash together, you and I talking Patriots, You making me the best expresso I ever had. Mark, You have a special place in my heart.
Leslie, I am so sorry. He was the best.
I am sorry for your loss. Dr. Berens was an amazing gentleman - I remember taking a feral cat that I trapped to him for shots and he only charged me for the shots. And, this is only one of the stories I could tell about this wonderful man. I know he is resting at peace.
We are very sorry to learn of the passing of Dr. Berens, but very grateful for his service to our nation as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador.

Dr. Berens was tops as a caring, capable vet. He clearly accepted and loved my somewhat uncontrollable (in a vet's office) Lab, Pup. He always knew exactly what to do and when to do it. His office was like a comfort zone to me. I was devastated when Dr. Berens sold his practice and, of course, even more so now that he has passed away. May his life be for a blessing.
My deepest sympathies to Leslie. I am so grateful to have known and loved Mark. Such an amazing man. May his memory be a blessing.
Thank you Dr. Berens for your great kindness
Dr Berens was a great veterinarian, so glad to have meet him..
Mark, I will surely miss you as a colleague and friend. You were always there for me to talk about a case or life's problems. You really touched my life and again I will truly miss you. Jim Hayden
