Regretfully, I did not have the pleasure to meet Prof. Clarkson face to face, but nevertheless she became a significant person in my life. As a post graduate, I was inspired by her work into exercise induced muscle damage (and that of her colleague (Prof.) Ken Nosaka). At the time Priscilla's published insights were critical in framing a number of my studies, as she was unequivocally THE "guru" in the field. To my amazement, she accepted the invitation to review my doctoral thesis, and provided some particularly inspiring comments that made a significant impact on me as a young investigator. Science has lost a great leader.
