Dear Betty and Family,

I was truly sorry to hear that George had died. I am sure this leaves a very big hole in your lives and in your Hearts. I will be praying that the sadness and lonliness you are feeling now will soon be replaced with memories of happy times you shared.

Dear Betty and Family,
We were very sorry to hear about George. Reading the newspaper tributes and hearing about him on Monday Night Football were clear evidences of loss to his family, friends and football.
May you find comfort in your memories.

Dear Blanda Family ~
I became hooked on football due to George Blanda ~ I couldn't believe the Monday Night Football announcers could talk about "old" players like George Blanda. I had to stay tuned to hear more about this "old" guy and became a Blanda fan...and Raider fan...for life. My kids laminated a Blanda football card that I wore on a long gold chain during the fall season. I got it out of my jewelry drawer and put it on again this week when my daughter called to share the news of his passing. I am a dedicated college and pro football fan thanks to George Blanda and all that he brought to the game especially as an Oakland Raider. THanks for all of the memories of great saved games, George Blanda...you could do it all and I loved watching you! Thank you Blanda Family for allowing folks across the country to share this time with you.

I have been a Raider fan since the age of 11. Forty-two years later I am still a huge Raider fan. My filing cabinet in my classroom is silver and black with Raider memorabilia adorning the top. I remember watching all of the great Raider games that George Blanda played in with my Dad. I am deeply saddened by his passing. My father took me to Canton, Ohio to the Football Hall of Fame. One of the highlights for me was seeing George Blanda's Raider jersey. In later years I always enjoyed when the cameras would pan to him in the Raider team box. George Blanda is and will always be one of the greats of the game. He will truly be missed!

Mrs George Blanda
My sincere sympathy on your loss of Mr. Blanda. You probably wouldn't remeber me, but I was that skinny 15 year old boy who used to bag and carry out your groceries at the Royal Blue Grocery store in LaGrange Park in 1956 and 57. I remember Mr Blanda coming in the store on many occasions wearing his number 16 Bears jacket. I'd alway position myself in the isle he was shopping and say hello and wish him well for Sunday's game. I followed his career until he retired. I'm always proud to say that I knew Geoge and Betty Blanda. I went on to a successful corporate career, retired and live with my wife of 47 years in Lake County, Il.
Please know that we shall your loss.
