To the Tiller Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. As a genetic counselor I know personally of women and families Dr. Tiller helped. He was a brave man in his work and also a wonderful supporter of genetic counselors. I have a paperweight on my desk with his quote on it "Attitude is Everything." I will be thinking of your family during this sad time.

I am a genetic counselor and heard Dr. Tiller speak at one of our conferences. I was touched by his dedication to serving his patients and the gentle way he spoke about his services. I am so sorry for your loss.

I admire Dr. Tiller for having the courage to do what he thought was right, for so many years, in the face of so much opposition and harassment and threats on his life. I imagine if any of those people who terrorized him and his clinic ever had a life-threatening pregnancy or other need for his help, Dr. Tiller would have provided the same compassionate medical care to them as he would to anyone else. Not many people in this world display that type of character, courage and determination, and he will be sorely missed.

I worked in Dr. Tiller's office in the late 80s and was able to observe he really helped women choose the best plan for them. One violent act as this one will not change this issue. He is a hero in many womens' hearts.
