Glenn Edward Barnett Sr., 80, of Stanley, North Carolina, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a long-distance trucker for Akers Motor Lines from 1955 until his retirement in 1975, died at his home on Tuesday, March 4, 2003, following a lengthy illness. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2003, 1-2 p.m., at Carothers Funeral Home, 412 South Main Street, Stanley. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, 2:30 p.m., at Gaston Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Larry Bolinger. Military honors will be conferred. Memorial donations are appreciated to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28053. Arrangements entrusted to Carothers Funeral Home, Stanley, North Carolina.
