A brilliant man. The earth is all the better for his having been on it. I would have liked to have met him in person, but I will have to console myself with his words and pictures.

To The Family of Gordon Parks, Mr.Parks was an inspiration to me. I experienced the opportunity of a lifetime. I sat and talked Mr. Parks at the 1980 Black filmakers awards. The best advice he gave me about Photography was the "Let Your Photos speak life into existence". This was my and most memorable experience in my life. I actually encountered a visit with history.

I was just reading an email from Legacy.com and came across the article for Mr. Parks and learned an interesting piece of history that Mr. Parks directed Shaft which was a very powerful movie. I only knew of him for the powerful and sometimes intense photos he took.
