SAN ANGELO Francisco Javier C. Urista Jr., 66, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, in San Angelo, Texas. Rosary will be read at 7 p.m. Friday at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart with Fr. Tom Barley officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/North. Mr. Urista was born Oct. 22, 1946, in Del Rio, Texas. He retired from GTE after 30 years of service and also retired from his second career as a math teacher for SAISD after 14 years. Frank was a member of the Southside Lions Club for 25 years. He graduated from Angelo State University in 1969, with a BA degree then again in 1982, with a MBA degree. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco R. and Maria C. Urista; and a brother, Mirco Jose Urista. Survivors include the love of his life, Lupe Urista; one son, Francisco "Trey" Urista III and wife Angela of Hillsboro, Texas, and the "light of his life" his granddaughter, Ariana Joy Urista. Other survivors include his brothers, Fernando Urista and wife Rose of Abilene, Adrian Urista and wife Diana of San Antonio; his sisters, Cecilia Urista of Mansfield, Texas, and Clementine Urista and Maria U. Roberts, both of San Angelo. Frank is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a grand-nephew. Other survivors include his brothers-in-law, Gilbert Velez and wife Irene and Henry Velez, both of San Angelo, and Joe and Dee Urquidez. Having the honor of serving as pallbearers will be Richard Paul U. Rivas II, Sammy Vasquez III, Billy Ray Sullivan, Nicholas Urquidez, Joe Cantu and David Urista. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Aguirre, Gilbert Velez III, Gabriel Velez, Adrian Velez, Tom Laguna and Frank Alejandro.
