GWENDOLYN ZACHARY

ZacharyNovember 1, 1932 - June 8, 2014 CHICKASHA Funeral service for Gwendolyn Ramona Zachary, of Chickasha, OK, will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha. Memorial contributions may be made to Integris Hospice of Oklahoma County. Gwendolyn Ramona Zachary was born November 1, 1932 in Cement, Oklahoma to Roy and Ada (Caldwell) Cates. She passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 81. Mrs. Zachary grew up and graduated from Cement High School. She married Dan Zachary on February 10, 1951 in Laverty, OK. They lived in many places while Dan served in the military. They returned to the Chickasha area in 1974. She taught Sunday school and Women's Bible Study at the First Baptist Church of Chickasha and also served in the Women's Choir. She was a devout Christian witness her entire life. She moved to Oklahoma City in 2006. She was member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK. Mrs. Zachary is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Zachary, on August 12, 2008; a son, Danny Zachary; a sister, Mary Frances Richison; and a brother, Roy Cates, Jr. She is survived by her children: Phyllis Thompson and her husband, Gary, Janet Rice and her husband, Randy, Annette DeVore and her husband, Allan, Mary Kay Zachary, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, a sister, Linda Lynn and her husband, Bryan. Interment will be in the Cement Cemetery, Cement, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.
