BOHR - Mr. Gerald (Jerry) Bohr, age 96, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011. Surviving are his daughters and sons-in- law, Mary Lynn (Tom) Bruck of Monroe, Barb (Steve) VanderLaan of Haslett, Sue (Jack) Pennell of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Jason (Lindsey) VanderLaan, Julie VanderLaan, Deonna Bruck; and a great grandchild, Gracie VanderLaan; sisters, Rosaline Duba, Evelyn Roman, Virginia LeMire and Mary Ellen Koelzer; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Victoria and a grandson, Brian VanderLaan. Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Medic during World War II in campaigns in Europe and Africa. Jerry worked very hard at various jobs to support his family. He retired from the Kent County Road Commission. He was involved in the planning and start up of the LE Kaufman Golf Course where he then worked as manager. Jerry was an avid golfer, having made a hole in one at age 88. He had a marvelous singing voice, and loved to dance, earning the nickname "Jelly Legs" Jerry. Jerry was a lifetime member of St. Alphonsus Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday 11 a.m. where he will repose one hour prior to the Mass. Entombment Resurrection Mausoleum. The family will receive visitors Sunday 5 to 9 p.m. at the Arsulowicz Brothers East Mortuary, 937 Michigan St. NE where the Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Memorial Contributions to the American Lung Association or the Redemptorist Order. Bob and I send our love,prayers and condolences on the death of your brother. You sisters (Rose, Evelyn, Ginny and Mary Ellen)always spoke so lovingly of Jerry.God blessed him with many years.And may God hold your family

Our condolences go out to the family of Jerry.
He was a charter member of our organization. He was a very loyal and active member until 3 or 4 years ago.
We remember him as being a really "nice guy".
