My thoughts are with the Julian family. I was a member of the GRJC Football Team in 1985 and 1986. Playing for Coach Julian and his staff was a great honor and experience. I am currently a high school football coach and have put to use many of the lessons Coach Julian and his staff taught. Thank you and God bless!
Dear Jen, Nick, Lindsay, and Jackie,
I spent 34 yrs. working for and with Fred. He gave me and the players, coaches, wives, parents, associates and fans something larger than ourselves in which to participate and take pride. Fred's love of the game taught us all to work smart, play fair, respect your opponent and to remember that football is just a game. His example showed that faith, family and friends mean more than the memory of won or lost games. We don't have Fred with us anymore but we do have his measured words and example. Both my wife, Fran, and I will miss him.
God rest Fred in peace and may the Lord bless his family and loved ones. We fondly remember Cousin Fred. Larry and Maggie Robinson
My condolences to the Julian family. Coach touched so many with his unique style. I always appreciated the fact that you always knew where you stood with him. He was a great mentor and an even better man. Truly one of the best leaders I have had the pleasure of knowing. God Bless!!!

I had the chance to experience Coach Julian as both a player and a student while at West Catholic. Your dad devoted much of his life toward preparation for success. It is why he experienced many successes. I think I speak for literally thousands of former players and students who were positively impacted by your father either on the field or in the classroom. I noticed Tony Kimbrough's post. It exemplifies the fact that the lessons of life inherent in the process your father adhered to made Immeasurable differences in the lives of many people. Having had the chance to continue playing after college for a semi-pro team your dad coached provided for me a chance to get to know your Coach Julian a little bit better; ironically it wasn't because of the actual playing or practicing of football but rather the occasional celebratory gatherings after a home game. Though I personally gleaned a lot about life from Fred Julians teachings of football, sitting down with Coach Julian over a beer after a game (which was possible to do with adult players)---it was priceless! Turned out that the tough exterior was perfectly complimented with genuine care and consideration, humorous wit, and passionate resolve. As a teacher and a coach myself, I can assure you that I have drawn upon many of lessons from my collective experiences of your dad. On behalf myself and so many many more other former players and students please know that Coach fred Julian will be missed but never forgotten. Our prayers are with you.
To a great Coach and a better man. Your legacy as a role model will remain thru the thousands of students and student athletes you were involved with.
Thanks Coach for allowing me to be a part of the "Raider Family'.
The sports world will miss Fred. Fred was a quality person, a great coach. His teams were disciplined, fundamentally sound and commited. He was difficult to coach against becaused he prepared them well for every game.Fred was outstanding at developing a strong program as well as developing strong young men.
To the Julian family, may God Bess you-all. Jim Edwards
Our Condolence to Nick and family. My 4 sons played for Fred and staff..we traveled to New York,Oklahoma,Utah,North Carolina and many other places..GRCC was GRJC then but when we left any town they knew the Raiders were in town.He was a great fan of the "draw play " on 3rd and long!!!..May he get a better reception in Heaven than we got in Northeast Oklahoma and that damn cannon they shot off!! From all the Treeces..Larry,Lance,Luke and Lenny...and of course Mom and I...thank you Fred for alot of Family fun and some great memories.
My condolences to the family. I had Fred as a teacher many years ago at what was then GRJC. He had high expectations and made you want to rise to them. I remember him fondly.

To the Julian Family,
Coach Julian had a tremendous impact on my life. The 2 years I played for him at Grand Rapids Junior College molded me into the man I am today. Coach J. was an awesome coach and better man. He told it like it was and I admired him for that. I grew up under his leadership. He will be dearly missed. "RAIDER FOR LIFE"
Fred was a great guy who loved his family and will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Fred really had a passion for golf and we always had a lot of fun on the course. Thanks Fred for all "Julians" over the years (three foot puts conceded) Neither one of us could putt very well and it was always a source for laughs. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends.
To the Julian family,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. He made a huge impact on the lives of so many at West Catholic and Community College.
May he rest in peace.
Dear Jennifer, Nick, Lindsay and Jacqueline,
Fred gave me my first coaching job at West back in 1970. We had great times coaching at West, trips to the "green house" (up north), league golf at Camp Lake, discussing Raider football, and the past few years playing golf at Alpine GC. He was a good man and I miss him already. God Bless.
Jen, Nick and Lindsey, we are sending you our prayers and condolences on the death of your wonderful father. He will be greatly missed.
Thoughts and prayers go out to you Nick and the whole family. He was a great teacher.
Hey, Nick - so sorry to hear about your dad. I wish I could be there to say hi and wish you my sympathy. Hope all is well with you. Katie (Giglio) Berning
Great teacher great guy he will be missed by all!!!!!!!
My prayers are with the Julian family. Mr. Julian will be greatly missed as he was a wonderful man and teacher.
Sincere condolences to the Julian family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Coach was a man who made a big impact on many of young kids lives (on and off the field). Often he was a man of few words but when he spoke, his voice demanded attention.
Coach kept the states only junior college on the national radar and did it with an old school style offense and a firm grip on his 3 iron!
My condolences to the family of this Grand Rapids great.
Rest in peace coach
Wonderful person. Thoughts and prayers are with the Julian family
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
