My dear Mrs G and family, it is with tears of joy and sadness that, upon learning of Mr G's promotion, I have recalled the marvelous music that he made. The time in Concert Choir in the 70s were probably the best moments of my life and gave me and myriads a sense of heavenly music. I thrill to imagine what it would be like to sing under him in a mass choir in heaven. I can hardly wait. Tonight our family read from Ps 16 and I recounted how you would tell audiences at intermission how the lines for you have fallen in pleasant places, and I voiced confidence that even after the deaths of Jack and now Mr G that you would continue to reflect that. Thank you for all you two did for our lives and for His glory. And my deep condolences.

dear mrs grotenhuis,I just listened to our recording of WHAT IS MY ONLY COMFORT IN LIFE AND DEATH sung by my choir the Ambassadors. It was composed by Dale for the choir at our request. It is a wonderful composition. You and your husband spent some precious moments in our home when he presented the finished work to me. We have pictures to remember the occasion. I have the greatest respect for Dale. I was going to send him a message to express me thanks and admiration when I was shocked to see that he had passed to GLORY. It saddens me but I am confident that Date is now at peace united with his son. I mourn and rejoice. Harold de Haan

Mrs. G -- You and your family have my deepest sympathy. I just listened to the recording of Concert Choir from 1976, bringing back so many memories! Mr. G was an awesome person and musician, who had a lasting impact on SO many people. I still think about the year of living at the "G-flat" - in your basement. God bless you!

I have just learned of the passing of Dale, and so I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the family. I met up with Dale on the composer trail of life in America and enjoyed every minute of his company. A truly wonderful man.

I served in the army with Dale--he directed a choir of soldiers....perhaps the best outfit I have ever sung with. Although we lived in different parts of the country, our careers were eerily similar. I was chair of the department of music at Point Loma Nazarene College, taught band and choir for 37 years. My memories of Dale are all positive, and I cherish our times of interaction.
