I am deeply saddened by the news of Uncle John's passing. He was a caring, gentle man with the heart of a teacher. I have special memories of the summer Uncle John volunteered to help me brush up on my basic, but long-forgotten high school physics and chemistry skills at his Alger Street kitchen table as I prepared to enter Navy OCS after college graduation. Thank you Uncle John (and Aunt Marian) for all the great times at Clear Lake with our West Michigan cousins, for the wonderful Clear Lake Christmas tree you gave to our family each year, and for the personal example of thoughtful stewardship you set. May God bless cousins Garrett, Jennifer, and Melissa and their families, and the larger Ten Have family at this time.

I had Mr. TenHave as a chemistry and physics teacher at Central High. He made always learning fun and interesting. I remember a couple to trips to his beloved lake to gather class materials. Late in life I was a colleague of his at Union High. He was still outstanding teacher. John was not only defined by his profession. He was a great friend to many and, I'm sure, a doting grandfather.

I had John as both a chemistry and physics teacher at Central High. He always made learning fun. I remember a couple of trips to his beloved lake to help gather class materials. Later in life, I also had the pleasure of being a colleague of John's at Union High. Besides his skills as an educator, John was a great friend to many.
