I was horrified to read of your passing & unsure why I did not really hear about it on the news! It was only this a.m., when researching a case on iclerk that I sawa there was an interim clerk. I just figured you had retired! You could light up the room sweet lady. Rest in peace!

I never met you. I voted for you because of your lovely smile. Reading more about you have now motivated me to meet more people and do more for my community. Reading what everyone else is saying, I know I missed out on meeting someone special as you.

While earth will miss you, heaven will be rejoicing.

Dear Betsy,
Just wanted you to know that an old friend and colleague was thinking of you at this difficult time. What a gift your Mother was to you, apparently to all who knew her and to my hometown. Know that you will be in my thoughts and prayers for many days to come and that your grief will pass but good memories will last forever. Affectionately,

Betsy, Chris & John,
Lydia Ellen Burr Gardner was certainly a high impact woman who will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She was smart as a whip, loving, supporting, honest (sometimes painfullly so), cheerful and courageous. We shall all miss her dearly. May the blessings of Heaven rest upon her and your family.

Most Sincerely,
T. A. Morris, M.D.

So very saddened to know of the passing of such a dear friend to so many people. So heartened to know of the memories she leaves for all of us who knew and loved her.

Lydia was the consummate “people person”. She brightened every room that she entered, and she tried her best to make every person in the room feel significant. Whether you were a friend, coworker, business associate or a customer, Lydia made you feel like the person IN the job was more important than the job itself. She somehow remembered the names of spouses, children, and significant life events. She knew where your children were going to college, when they were getting married, and who was expecting a new baby.

She loved to laugh (often at herself) and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her familiar bright smile, grace and charm were contagious. Lydia was an encourager and a motivator of everyone around her. She offered little sympathy for negative thinking and complaining.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, school teacher, realtor, school board member, marketing manager, and lastly, a public official. It seemed that she was always trying to help the people around her succeed while having the wisdom and confidence to know that success would ultimately come to her as well.

Lydia Gardner may be remembered by most as having served as a four-term Clerk of Courts in Orange County, but those of us who knew her personally will best remember her as an amazing human being. The world is a better place today because of the lives she touched and the legacy she leaves behind.

Her beautiful and contagious smile will live in our hearts forever. I had the honor of working under her leadership and I can say that I am a better person because of her legacy. Thanks for having shared her with us!

Thank you for your service to the people of Orange County, in particular your membership on the CRC Governing Board. You will be missed. My condolences to the family.

I can see by this lovely guestbook, my Aunt Lydia was loved by so many people. My heart goes out to Betsy and Chris and to all my Cousins at this time of loss in our family. I will always remember her beautiful smile. God bless you Aunt Lydia.
