On behalf of the many Aquinas College students that you helped over the decades, heartfelt thanks for all you did and will continue to do. You have helped many become doctors, lawyers, professional people, teachers, coaches and mentors. Your legacy lives on through them and through all of the many others you helped during your lifetime. They will continue your mantra forever. I also thank you for believing that athletics, if done properly, can be an important part of the growth and maturation of young people. It is unfortunate that few people know about Peter's courageous youth in wartime. As a 19 year old kid, Peter regularly flew nearly suicide missions across the Atlantic from South America to Africa and back. On these missions, if you were shot down, you were never found.

To a Poet and Pilot who inspired so many:

"As swimmers dare to lie face to the sky and water bears them, as hawks rest upon air and air sustains them, so would I learn to attain free fall and float into the Creator Spirit's deep embrace, knowing no effort earns that all surrounding grace."
God welcome and bless you as you welcomed and blessed us.

Bernardine, O.P.)

The poet Edgar Guest said, " i would rather see a sermon than hear one. " Peter Wege's life was a sermon in generosity; he helped countless people over many years.
I will never forget his generous gift to Lake Michigan Academy to help learning disabled kids.

Being in Park City, Utah, we regret not being able to express our condolences to the Wege family in person. Peter was a Grand gentleman !

Mr. Wege was a great inspiration to me, my family, and my ministry. I worked for him for approximately twenty years between the 16 years at Steelcase and 4 years as Community Organizer for Faith In Motion. Mr. Wege allowed me to use his name as my honorary co-chair for my first campaign run in 2004 for The Grand Rapids Board of Education. I am grateful for all of his assistance and advise over the years. I pray that the work that I attempted to do within the community in some small way made him proud, because he would often say Ken, I believe in you. My prayers are with The Wege Family as well as the staff at The Wege Foundation. Blessings & Love, Pastor Kenneth W. Hoskins

My admiration and respect always, Peter. As your first secretary at Aquinas College, I had the privilege of helping you begin your visionary service to Aquinas in 1963. You will be greatly missed.
