May the memories with Brooks and the wonderful life the two of you shared together help you through your grief.
Dear Mary Kay,
We are devestated for you. We only met Brooks that one time this year, but were so looking forward to getting to know him better. He was truly an exceptional man: you wouldnt have chosen him if he weren't. How lucky you both were to have each other. How unlucky that the time was cut short. If I could,I would turn back time for you. Our thoughts, prayers, and anything else you might need are with you.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss .
Mrs. Dodson, you and your husband instilled some of the most important lessons in me, while providing me with the opportunity to work for you and learn from you both. He will be greatly missed, and the memories treasured.
I am so sad to see the notice that Brooks has died. My heart is with you, Sarah, and Matt. The world is a brighter place because of you all. He will be missed. Indeed, you all have been missed by the Wilmington community. I send you my love,
Mary Kay I am so sorry to hear of Brook's passing. He was a good man. I am still at my cottage so will not be able to attend the memorial. Diane
I am saddened to hear of Brooks passing. I was privileged to know both of you for a very short time. My condolences to you during this sad time.
The heavens are brighter and the earth a bit darker now. This man influenced and encouraged me more than any professor I had at UNCW. I was a non-traditional student, and sometimes family, work and study were overwhelming, but he was always there to encourage me. I took every class I could from him because I knew it would be captivating and taught with an enthusiasm that only a deep love of literature could inspire. For once in my life, I cannot find words powerful enough to convey my feelings. I will never forget him, and I have kept all my blue essay exam books from his classes. His comments still comfort and encourage me across so many years. My sincerest and deepest condolences to a family that I know he loved and treasured.
Dear Mary Kay, Sarah and Matthew,
I was so saddened to read of Brooks' passing. Please know that I am thinking of all of you at this difficult time and remembering a family that I hold dear to my heart.
Brooks was a real Renaissance man; how unique and wonderful in this day and age. We're writing from Massachusetts, and probably won't be able to attend the memorial service. Just know that we're thinking of you, as are all your other, many, friends from Amicale.

I just finished reading the lovely tribute you wrote so eloquently about Brooks. You are to be commended for having written such a heartfelt, touching obituary during such a difficult time for you and for your family. It truly recreated his life as he so well lived it. I regret to inform you that I will be unable to be at the memorial since I will be in California. Know that I hold you in my heart.
