James Ryczkowski Obituary

Ryczkowski, James R. "Jim" James R. "Jim" Ryczkowski, 89, De Pere, died Sunday, January 5, 2014. He was born September 5, 1924, in Pulaski to Stanley and Tillie (Kuklinski) Ryczkowski. On June 12, 1948, Jim married Rose Bieda in Pulaski. He was employed by Fort Howard Paper Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1986. While raising a family of six children through the 60's and 70's, Jim was an active member of St. Jude Parish where he belonged to the Men's Club. He was an innovative Paper Maker who was instrumental in starting up the Fort Howard Paper Mill in Muskogee, OK and remained there for six years before returning to Green Bay in 1984, when he and his wife Rose became members of Resurrection Parish. Jim loved fishing, league bowling, playing cards, golfing, woodworking (especially wood snowmen!), gardening, and was an avid Packers fan – enjoying being a Packers season ticket holder. Some would say Jim could build or fix practically anything, and was a "self-made" man. He was very dedicated to his family. He is survived by his wife, Rose; six children, Cynthia (Peter) Kacala, Eagle, WI; James R. "J.R." Ryczkowski, Stiles; Jay (Susan) Ryczkowski, Pooler, GA; Mary (James) Paul, Wauwatosa; Carol (William) Volz, Wauwatosa; Jon (Candis) Ryczkowski, Mustang, OK; eight grandchildren, Aaron Meinerz, Shannon Meinerz, Jay Jr. (Holly) Ryczkowski, Angela and William Horne, James Volz, Ana Volz, Sara Ryczkowski and Jacob Ryczkowski; eight great-grandchildren, Quinn, Branden, Madison, Dane, Dylan, Jasmine, Sophia, and James; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Evelyn Brodie, and Carol (Paul) Plog; nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Sarah; his parents; and three brothers, Henry, Julius, and Norbert. Friends may call at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with Bishop Robert Morneau, Rev. Paul Demuth, and Rev. Patrick Gawryleski O.F.M. (Mr. Ryczkowski's nephew) concelebrating. Entombment will be in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send online condolences, please go to http://www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Donations may be mailed to Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, WI 54303 Attn: James Ryczkowski Family
