John Barron Howell, Jr., 91, of Travelers Rest, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2013 at his home. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late John Barron, Sr. and Florence Estelle Smith Howell. Mr. Howell was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam; he was also retired from the Greenville Water System where he was the Chief Operator of the North Saluda Treatment Plant; he was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Ebenezer Masonic Lodge; a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple and a member of Foothills Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Lillie Margaret Arnette Montgomery Howell; a special nephew, Jim Morgan and his wife Karolyn, sons Barron & Grant and many other loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by 7 brothers and sisters, Mary H. Tate, Douglas Howell, Hager H. Gilmore, Coly Howell, Thelma H. Kelley, Curtis Howell and Estelle H. Bates. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at The Howze Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 Saturday afternoon at the mortuary prior to the service. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Clarissa Brown for the loving care shown Mr. Howell during his illness. We did not know Mr.Howell except through Clarissa Brown our daughter. He was a kind and caring person.We send our deepest symphathy to the family. June and Harold Brown
