My first breathe in life I was surrounded by love, love that was always freely given and love that was sometimes tested as I tried to find my way in life.
But through my ups and downs as a child I knew that my family had provided the best example of a selfless love. I was allowed to make decisions in my life to help mold me into the man that I ultimately became.
I was blessed to have many brothers and sisters outside of my home, brothers that stood beside me in victory and defeat. Whose bruises like mine when earned was always Black and gold what a team we made.
Sisters that knew my shoulder was always there to support them as they cried their eyes out over their heartache. These same sisters I allowed to dress me up like a Ken doll for a fashion show.
These are some of the memories that I carried with me as I travelled through life. Days while I was in the Navy and longing for home, I only had to think back on my extensive family to find comfort and peace.
I do not want anyone to think of me sadly or with a heavy heart, because my life was full of happy moments and true blessings. I have the best wife anyone could ask for, and a very beautiful daughter. These two ladies stole my heart, and I would gladly experience this over and over again. I never questioned why I'm being called home and I do not want you to either.
The legacy that I would love to pass on to each and every one of you is to laugh and smile easily. Followed up with a Great steak! There will come a time in life when one has to reflect back on their life. And wonder what imprint they leave on the people they encounter. And I can honestly say that I'm blessed, because my with my last breathe in life I was surrounded by love.

(These are the thoughts that came to mine when I think of David. He was always a very upstanding young man and I'm honored to have had the opportunity to know him. I remember the last time I saw David and that was many years later in our lives and of all places at Walt Disney World. This is also where I met Lennie for the first time and knew that David was truly happy. There are few people you can attach the word Valor to and mean it. David was a True Man of Valor. As his friend, I understand that we all owe it to David to keep his memory alive for Lily. It breaks my heart to know that David's Girl's have to go through this. You will be missed David

I learned of this on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from Dan Evans. May everything go as best as it can. Not everyone can be a U.S. Navy Submarine Sailor, but David was. I never knew him in person, but hope all is well with him in the afterlife. May family members and all who are grieving now find peace at this time. God bless you all.
